From the Principal
Conferences provide the opportunity for you and your child's teacher to become acquainted, to discuss your child's progress, and to plan for further growth based on the standards at each grade. I am happy to say that we had many families who participated in the October Parent Teacher conferences. McKinley teacher's report a nearly 91% attendance rate! This is fantastic! Our parents and teachers working together make a wonderful team in helping our students to succeed!
We want to extend our appreciation to the PTA for providing staff with an evening conference meal. Thank you for taking such good care of us on these important extended days!

Art to Remember
Hi families and friends,
Our school is participating in a creative fundraiser with Art to Remember that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child's art. There are over 60 products and many are less than $15. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Click on the link below and enter the online order code shown on your child's order form which they would have received mid-October, to search for your child's artwork. Then, have fun shopping!

Written Notification of School Accountability Report
Transparency to the Public
North Dakota is committed to informing communities about how well its schools are doing. North Dakota's future success depends on preparing students to graduate choice ready with the knowledge, skills, and desire to be successful. State education departments require accountability reports for every public school in the state. The School Accountability Report outlines how schools are performing on the elements North Dakota selected within its ESSA plan.
North Dakota has a public dashboard designed to help communities across the state access important data in K-12 districts and schools, including COVID-19 Response. Insights feature easy-to-read reports on many measures of school success, including test scores, graduation rates, English Learner progress, student engagement results, and state accountability.
To find out information about our school, visit the dashboard at insights.nd.gov, select "Find My School", and search alphabetically. Please note, data made available to the public hides data for groups with less than 10 students to protect private information about individual students and will say "no data available".
Family Engagement
We have district plans for working to continuously improve educational programs at our schools. We would like you and your child(ren) to continue to be active in our educational system. Please help support our high expectations for student learning by participating in school initiatives, offering input and support in our educational goals to raise student achievement, and volunteering at school. Meeting our school's goals will take a united effort, and we look forward to working with families to continue the success for each student.
Continuous Improvement
Our school has completed a continuous improvement plan and it is also available on the Insights Dashboard. McKinley is a participating Title I school, with a student membership count of 165.
THANK YOU!
We are appreciative of our students

November/December Guidance Lessons
During the month of November, I will be teaching the Second Step unit on Empathy. Being able to feel or understand what another person is feeling prepares students to manage their own strong emotions and solve interpersonal problems with others. The program teaches students skills for identifying emotions in themselves and others, labeling these emotions, and taking the perspective of others. These skills are the basis for helpful and socially responsible behaviors. Empathic students have fewer conflicts and better relationships with peers. Having empathy is also related to academic success.
If you have questions or concerns regarding your child, please contact me. My office hours are Monday–Friday 8:00-3:20. You can call me at 446-5217 or email linnelj@fargo.k12.nd.us
