Gifts from the Heart
Miss Land's Kindergarten class visited me today and said the sweetest little poem of appreciation and presented me with this precious piece of art. This moment was pure joy for me. Listening to them share what fingerprint was theirs and what person represented them was a memory I will treasure. I promised them that their artwork would have a special place in my office, but what I didn't say was that it will always have a special place in my heart.
I just want to thank you for sharing your children with us each day at River Oak. Each and every one of them is a gift to our heart filled with God's message of faith, hope, and love. May you feel God's presence when you need it most and see the messengers He has placed in your path. Have a great weekend! Hope to see you at the Walk-a-thon next week!
Blessings,
Lisa
P.S. I was told that Miss Land is the one hanging from the tree. :)

Walk-a-thon
The Walk-a-thon is almost here! Come join us at this fun event for our students, families, and staff. We hope that everyone is able to get out and find sponsors. We are hopeful to make or break our goal of $12,000 this year!
Students will ride to Memorial Park on the bus, but we will be doing dismissal differently this year. Instead of coming back to school, we are asking parents to pick students up at Memorial Park. We would like students to be picked up by 3:15 p.m. We will send a note home to our after school care families to find out if you will picking up your child(ren) or need us to transport them back to school. We are hoping that this makes our after school dismissal smoother for this event. Thank you!
Grandparents' Day and See You at the Pole
Changes for Morning Drop-off for the See You at the Pole Event
For our special grandparents' day guests: There will be a limited number of parking spots reserved in the upper lot for those needing to be a little closer to the event.
Background Checks
If you are planning on assisting in the classroom, transporting students, chaperoning a field trip, helping with a classroom party, or working with students you will need to have a background check completed. This is just for individuals who have never completed this process at River Oak. If you have already completed the paperwork you are not required to renew at this time.

Archery Training
Archery is coming to River Oak! We are in the process of writing a MoNASP grant to obtain the equipment to start an archery team at River Oak. The team will be made of students in grades 3-5. However, all students will get the opportunity to learn about this exciting sport during their physical education classes. If you are interested in attending the training to learn more about the sport or assisting with coaching, please give me a call in the office. Training will be two nights (4 hours each night) on October 18th and 20th. I think this is very exciting for our students and school. I would love to have many of us join together to get this program up and running here at River Oak.
