Ms. Shermer

Liquids take the shape of whatever container they are in and have a definite volume. For example this liquid, water, is taking the shape of the glass it is in. No matter what size glass you pour the water in, you will still have the same amount.

Here are some types of liquids:

  • Juice
  • Water
  • Soda
  • Soup
  • Paint
  • Oil
  • Blood
  • Coffee

Liquids flow or pour.

How can we change a liquid into another state of matter?

Liquids will turn to gas when heated.

For example, when water boils, it creates steam, a gas.

Liquids will turn to solids when cooled.

For example, when water is cooled it turns in to ice, a solid.
