TRANSPORTATION UPDATE
FRIDAY NIGHT SHS FOOTBALL + TEAM STRONGSVILLE COMMUNITY TAILGATE
The Strongsville Mustangs varsity football team plays its first home game of the season tonight (Friday, 9/2) at 7pm. It's the first game on the new Serpentini Field at Pat Catan Stadium. Plan to be in your seats by 6:45pm for the ceremonial ribbon-cutting. And don't miss the Team Strongsville Community Tailgate beginning at 5pm. ROCKIN' AT THE REC IS BACK!
Strongsville students in 6th, 7th & 8th grades - don't miss another great year of Rockin' At The Rec dances, sponsored by Strongsville Council PTA. Held once a month from 6:30pm-9:00pm at the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center, each dance has a specific theme and includes pizza and pop! Cleveland.com is currently accepting nominations for its upcoming 'Best High School Marching Band' contest. Let's make sure Strongsville High School and our Marching Mustangs are among the finalists. UPCOMING AUCTION
A public auction date has been finalized for the potential sale of the former Drake Elementary School property (20566 Albion Rd., Strongsville, OH 44149). The auction will be held on Thursday, September 15 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Middleburg Heights (7230 Engle Rd.). The public auction is at 11:00am, with registration beginning at 10:00am. Three onsite inspection dates for interested bidders have also been scheduled Wednesday, August 31, Wednesday, September 7, and Wednesday, September 14, 2016 (2-4 pm on each day). The public auction is being conducted by Hanna Commercial Real Estate (Michael Berland, OH Auctioneer). The auction site listing may be found at:

MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - SMS TEACHER TANYA ROGERS
Mrs. Tanya Rogers teaches 6th and 7th grade Orchestra at Strongsville Middle School. She is a fantastic recruiter of student talent and has strengthened the middle school instrumental program by conducting programs such as All-City Orchestra, Honors Orchestra, and Chamber Strings. Mrs. Rogers has provided additional opportunities outside of the classroom for students through performances at the Strongsville
Mall, Cedar Point ‘Music in the Parks’ Competition, and at the Cuyahoga County Fair.
Mrs. Rogers earned her Masters in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Akron this summer. She is also an adjunct faculty member at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory Community School of Music.
Thank you Mrs. Rogers for your passion and dedication to developing fantastic music talent in our district!

SMS Community Open House + Cleveland Pops Event - Sunday, September 11
Make plans to enjoy a community open house and special concert on Sunday, September 11th at Strongsville Middle School. The Strongsville Education Foundation, with sponsors Medical Mutual and Southwest General Hospital, is proud to present the Cleveland Pops Orchestra for a special concert at 4:00pm. Strongsville Middle School will also be featuring an open house for the community from 12:00pm-3:30pm.
