GALLAUDET UNIVERSITY BATTLE OF THE BOOKS COMPETITION
Our Brazos River RDSPD students: Will McGinnis & Mikel Scott (Granbury ISD), Madison Birchell (Mineral Wells ISD), Christian Dunn (Peaster ISD), and Jodi Oesterle (Weatherford ISD) competed in the nationwide Battle of the Books Competition via video phone against teams from Alabama, Washington D.C., and Georgia. Schools all over the nation competed at the same time, scores were tallied, and the top 8 were selected to move on to the next level of competition. Our team only missed moving up by 12 points. (SO CLOSE!) We are very excited to compete again next year!
Thank you to Mrs.Cox, Mrs.Fugitt, and Mrs.Painter for kicking off this program and to Mrs.Brann for interpreting. We are so proud of our students who read their books and competed. It was an amazing day!
SIGNING SANTA
On December 2nd, all of our BRRDSPD elementary age students traveled to Arlington to the annual Signing Santa event. The students had the opportunity to speak to Santa Claus, meet other D/HH students their ages, attend TEKS based workshops and play games, as well as skate and have a pizza lunch. This event is always a highlight of our students' year. Special thanks to Sammie Sheppard and the Sign Language Interpreting Program at Tarrant County College for this awesome event!
