7th Grade English Language Arts and Reading and AAC

Working hard and showing what GOOD READERS DO!

The 7th graders in English Language Arts and Reading have been dedicating their time and are really BOOKED AND BUSY! They have been engaged in reading multiple genres, tracking their reading using several good reading strategies and then responding to short answer and extended constructed response questions! They are also gearing up for their mighty Book Clubs! They will partake in choosing a book of choice, having weekly meetings with their book club buddies and completing book projects!!

You are invited to our first Literacy Slam on February 1st. Snacks and prizes will be given away!

7th grade Math

Welcome back and Happy New Year! We are starting the year off with iReady diagnostic #2 to show off how much growth our students have been achieving! Our unit of focus for the next nine weeks is geometry. In 7th grade math, we will be focusing on circles, composite figures, 2D and 3D figures. Please remind your student to log into iReady for at least 45 minutes each week to complete their learning pathway goals.

February 14/16 - Math/Reading Interim Assessment #2 (Mock STAAR)

3/6-3/10- District CBA - Adaptations , Natural Selection, Biodiversity, Dichotomous Key, Energy Flow and Ecosystems

4/24-4/28- District CBA- Watersheds, WED, Catastrophic Events and Succession

5/15-5/19 District Interim Testing Window

The 8th Social Studies team is getting ready for STAAR which is April 27th. We will continue to focus on vocabulary by giving weekly vocabulary quizzes. Check point quizzes have already started to review STAAR like assessments and review testing strategies. We will also be incorporating eight newsletters to review prior content. Those newsletters will need to be reviewed at home and will have to be signed by parents.
