Keeping Up With The Kennedy

February 9, 2020- Issue 21

Ms. Mourad's Class

Students have been working hard learning all about force. They have been rolling balls, pushing cars, sorting push vs. pull, and experimenting.

Mrs. MacKay's Class

Students were asked, "Could a statue's shadow move?" They did an experiment to see if it is possible. They placed a statue on a piece of paper in the morning and traced the shadow. They then came back 2 times (11:30 and 1:30) to check on the shadow and trace it. Students later used flashlights to recreate the change in shadows. They learned that moving the flashlight up/down, side to side, and forward/backward would change the size, shape, and direction of the shadows.

Volunteer to READ during Read Across America Week
The annual Read Across America week will take place March 2nd- March 6th. Feel free to check out this website for more information and resources.

At JFK, we are celebrating RAA by inviting community members into our classrooms to read to students during that week. If you or someone you know are interested in visiting, please contact the office with the grade level of your choice and the title of the book you would like to read. If you just want to commit to a grade level, we can provide the book for you too! The students will be excited to welcome guest readers.

Notes from the Nurse

As we move through the winter with thoughts of spring and warmer weather, we are reminded that there are a significant amount of coughs, colds and other illnesses going around. We wanted to take this opportunity to remind families and students of the Canton Public Schools Health Guidelines. This provides information about when you should keep your student home, and when it is ok to send them to school. Please take a moment to review this information and feel free to contact the school nurse with questions. If you have any concerns or questions about your child's health, reach out to your child's physician as needed.
