Happening this week...
We are committed to having a strong finish for the last six weeks of the year. STAAR testing will take place for Reading, Math, and Accelerated Science the week of May 8, therefore, final preparations for state testing are underway in many classes. it is very important to be present and on task each day and we work toward these test days.

College and Career~ Ms. Beam, Ms. Parker, Mrs. Frantom
Mrs. Beam & Mrs. Parker - Students will be completing their “Graphic Design and Marketing” Unit. Students are working through a cereal box design featuring branding, promotions, and nutritional information. If your student has not brought a cereal box to class, they need to do so by Monday.
Mrs.Frantom - Students will be completing the last part of the Culinary Arts project. They are researching safety, clean up procedures, and creating their own meal (on recipe cards).
Pre-AP Science ~ Ms. Quisenberry and Ms. Cox
We will begin our next project starting on 4/20. Students will need to bring their materials for their group project on MONDAY 4/24. Points will be taken off each day that students do not bring their materials.

This week we will continue our STAAR preparations. Tutoring is from 4:00-4:30 Tuesdays and Thursdays. This week tutoring will focus on Chemistry and Physics.
Monday - Chemical Reactions and Counting Atoms/Chemical Formulas
Tuesday - Balancing Equations and Organic Compounds
Wednesday - Summative Check, Reporting Category 1 - Chemistry

Accelerated Math ~ Mrs. Fisher
Now that students have completed their Probability unit, they will begin exploring a two-week unit on Data. We will learn about bar graphs, dot plots, and circle graphs. Students will use these representations to make predictions. There will be a summative assessment at the end of the two weeks. **Students will be with Mr. Peltier this week (in Mrs. Fisher’s room) while Mrs. Fisher is working with the Student Success Initiative Groups.
Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, and Mrs. Strother
We are preparing for the upcoming Reading STAAR test. Students will be working on in class assignments and Moby Max activities geared toward helping each student meet their performance goals.
Art ~ Mrs. Beam
We are finishing our Proportions and Mixed media unit this week. Students are working on final artworks showing their knowledge of composition, proportion, and negative space.
Beginning Band ~ Mr. Sypert
Monday is after school practice for the students who were selected for the Hughes Select Beginning Band @HMS starts at 4:15pm
Tuesday the STEAM Beginning Band will be competing at the Pride of Texas Music Festival at iTZ. We will be gone all day.
Wednesday the Hughes Select Band will be competing at Beach Within Reach at Haltom City HS.
Thursday Kerr All Star Band students have their final rehearsal at Kerr MS after school.
Friday Kerr All Star Band students are competing at Beach Within Reach at Haltom City HS. They will leave after school for this contest.
