A Message from the Principal...
Dear friends,
Thank you so much for a great first full week of school. I hope you all enjoyed the three-day weekend! I enjoyed being out in more classrooms this week and especially seeing how well our special education students are doing while being supported in the general education setting. Our SAI model, while still a work in progress, is off to a strong start. Overseeing special education is one of the most challenging responsibilities for school administrators, and it has quickly become apparent that under the SAI model, there will likely be a need for more administrative involvement and support. For this reason, beginning today, Rod, Shaylene and I will all be involved with the daily operations. We are asking that if you need assistance with anything related to special education, please email all three of us. If you prefer to discuss the issue in person, please see any of the three of us. The person you communicate with will communicate it to the group at our bi-weekly meetings. We will assign a point person and follow up with you. It is our hope that these new bi-weekly meetings will help to ensure we are all on the same page and aware of all sped-related issues. For more information related to SAI, please read below. I encourage you to do so, even if you are not a pilot participant.
I also want to remind you that the Mindful Moment is not optional. It is a district-wide expectation that all students have this opportunity every day. If you are having trouble remembering to do this, please consider assigning a student reminder. We appreciate your support.
I will close with a reminder that Back to School Night is this Wednesday. Once again, our PTSA is coordinating a wonderful dinner for those of you who will be on campus. Click here to see the invite (and menu). As you know, the PTSA has done a lot to help improve our campus and support our staff. If you have not yet become a member I would encourage you to do so. For more detailed information on how the PTSA supports all of us and for more information on how you can support them read the welcome letter from our new President Liz Andruss.
Here's to another great week!
