FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents
It is wonderful to be back after my Long Service Leave, thank you for the warm welcome back.
I would like to thank Mr Ryan von Bergheim for taking on the role of Acting Principal during my absence and from all accounts I hear that he did an outstanding job. Thank you also to Ms Megan Woodall for taking on the role of Acting Assistant Principal and for ably assisting Mr vB.
The Sacramental Programme for the parish is well underway. Please keep the Year Three, Four and Six children in your prayers as they enter into this very special spiritual journey of receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation during the year.
Please keep the Year Six children in your prayers as they are in the final stages of preparation to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. On Tuesday this week, the Year Six children took part in an uplifting Confirmation Retreat Day where they were able to spend time reflecting the sacrament they are about to receive, forming a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit who is nurturing their hearts. On the 8th June at 6:15pm and 9th June at 10:45am and 5:30pm, the children will receive the sacrament at Our Lady of the Missions Church. All school families are most welcome to attend these masses and join in with the sacramental celebrations in the parish.
This week is National Reconciliation Week and it is an opportunity for us all to recognise the positive contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have on our past and present lives in Australia. It is also a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and to explore how each of us can join the national reconciliation effort. The theme this year is ‘Grounded in Truth Walk Together with Courage’. On Friday our Year Five students will be focussing on National Sorry Day for the theme of their assembly. Please come and join us.
Our P&F are as busy as ever. This week the children will be able to enjoy a nice warm sausage sizzle for the lunch again. Thankyou so much to Sheree Merry and Cindy Aquino for all their hard work in co ordinating these delicious days and to their team of helpers. Please ensure that you get your children’s orders in on time to ensure smooth running of the winter lunch days.
The Extraordinary Father League has a footy night on the June 7th at 5.30pm in the school hall. Thanks to Simon Pearce and his band of helpers who organise these wonderful events for the fathers in our school community. Please see the P&F section for further details.
Padbury CPS is a school of choice in the area and as such we want to tell everyone about our amazing school community. Did you know that since the beginning of this year we run school tours twice a term and encourage prospective families to come a take a look at what we have to offer? If you know of anyone looking to start school or someone who wishes to change school, please encourage them to visit our school website and book into one of these school tours.
Enjoy the long weekend coming up with your family and friends. I hope you get to do something together and enjoy this beautiful sunshine that God has provided for us.
Kindest regards

CURRICULUM
Kindy
Kindy has been a hive of activity this week as we welcomed Farmer Mick and his Farmyard on Wheels to our school. For the past 5 weeks we have been discovering the world of farm animals and how important they are in our community to support us with produce. Our children have been immersed in a wide selection of fiction and non- fiction texts which helped them learn about the wonderful world of animals and how they all part of God’s creation. We spent some time exploring questions we could ask Farmer Mick about his farm and what are the challenging parts of the job. We also created a class book to get some answers! We have combined this with a look at sounds and how they are used to make words and sentences. Along the way we discovered that Mrs Williamson also had a few questions herself and came to ask us for some help! One of the Gingerbread Men she was baking to share with the teachers for morning tea had gone missing and she could not find it! You will never guess what? We found him and then lost him again! As the story goes … you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Man!
