IN THE NEWS...

MID-YEAR PARENT LETTER FORM - POLICIES AND CODE OF CONDUCT REVIEW

THANK YOU TO SEVERAL TEACHERS WHO ARE DOING THEIR DUE DILIGENCE AT COLLECTING THESE FORMS AND KEEPING THEM ON FILE UNTIL THE ENTIRE CLASS IS COLLECTED. It has already proven fortuitous for us as we deal with parent appeals on our end! ;-)

Each teacher should continue filing each signed form for their homeroom until the ENTIRE class is complete, which then the teacher may turn the class forms into Juanita in the front office. If you need more letters/forms, PLEASE EMAIL JESSICA LUCAS TO RUN YOU MORE COPIES. PLEASE HOLD STUDENTS ACCOUNTABLE FOR TURNING THIS FORM IN -- HAVE IT AS PART OF THEIR HOMEWORK ACCOUNTABILITY - Provide incentives for those who have brought theirs in -- perhaps a homework pass. For new enrollees, we will provide the letter in the enrollment packet and will ensure that the form is signed and turned in upon enrollment.

TELPAS -- RATER TRAINING -- READ THE MANUAL!

Thank you for all staff who attended the TELPAS training session on Thursday. Please recall that you are still responsible for reading over the RATER MANUAL prior to calibrating and prior to collecting and rating writing samples. You must have turned in your OATH too. If you were unable to make it to Thursday's meeting and you are a K-6 teacher, you are required to make-up the session with Rachel. Please make sure to make arrangements.

TELPAS - ONLINE BASIC TRAINING

Friendly/Gentle Reminder!! If you are a NEW TEACHER OR NEW TO TELPAS, you must take the ONLINE BASIC TRAINING. See below.

Those of you who are NEW TO THE DISTRICT or NEW TO A GRADE LEVEL, please cross-check with Lisa or Sherri to confirm if you need to take the OBT.

Please do not just ASSUME you do not need to take the OBT. Only those who took the OBT and calibrated in the last two years are exempt from taking the OBT this year – AND you must have either been here and we have proof of you taking it OR you have submitted your certificate that you’ve taken it in the last two years.

Deadline is Feb 10th – we hear it can take about 2-3 hours,,, so please PLAN accordingly and don’t wait until last minute…

TELPAS - CALIBRATION & WRITING COLLECTION

—Online Basic Training – deadline is 2/10 (print certificate)

—As grade level: determine writing samples to collect (align with curriculum) and submit to Lisa or Sherri by 2/11

—Calibration: DWD February 15th

Morning (8:45) -- Grades 3, 4, Wimberly, Wontor, Melcher, Kamper

Afternoon (1:00) – Grades K, 1, 2, Hutchison, Steinberger

—Starting Feb. 16th -- Collect Writing Samples – Rate as you collect (post-it) and submit each set to Sherri or Lisa – Last day to submit is March 2nd

—Wholistic Rating Meeting with ESL – March 23rd or 24th (during planning)

CARDSTOCK

When you are having things printed or copied, please consider whether you need it on cardstock or not. We have severely exceeded our cardstock amount, not only the white but the colors as well. Keep in mind that whatever is printed will most likely be thrown away shortly after the lesson is taught, so regular paper will work just as well as card stock, and regular paper is much less expensive!

SUBMISSIONS TO THE STALLION STAR

Anyone is welcome to submit entries to our weekly staff newsletter. Please email any submission requests to Carlene by the Thursday before publishing.

SUPPORT THE 21 DAY CHALLENGE!!

Please support Coaches Rowe and Jackson in motivating your class to do the 21 DAY CHALLENGE!

1. The purpose and message to students is extremely important to make healthier decisions!

2. Healthier students in body = healthier students in mind!

3. Support our fellow colleagues - who support us in so many ways - in pursuing their professional goals.

4. Promote our campus to participate in district-wide initiatives! We would love to have strong participation rates - this is an area we can be successful in if we promote it!

THE CLASS AT EACH GRADE LEVEL WHO HAS THE HIGHEST PARTICIPATION RATE WILL RECEIVE A SPECIAL "GET FIT PARTY" - complete with fun PE game stations and healthy snacks!! GET YOUR KIDS PSYCHED!

Indoor Recess Getting the best of your kids???

Keep them moving throughout the day with these motivating videos from GoNoodle! Take 3 minutes after a lesson and before you begin a new activity. A little bit here and a little bit there can go a long way! Several teachers at ACE use GoNoodle -- and it is good for all ages!
