Leaders of Learning
This week's nominees:
Clint Rogers: I would like to nominate Clint Rogers as a Leader of Learning. Clint is readily available to come into my classroom and share wonderful uses for technology as it aligns with our standards. I have grown as a teacher this year because of our work together. In addition, Clint has been happy to help with making video tapes for my National Board Renewal and provided me with a letter as evidence of my growth in technology to submit with my boards. This goes above and beyond what he is required to do, and I am very appreciative of his efforts.
Moneka McDonald, Jevone Baldwin, Sharon Cole, Charity Blanchard: I would like to nominate these ladies who did a super job leaving the library neat and tidy after the luncheon.

In my heart.....
I often think about why am I here. What is my purpose? If someone asked you those two questions, could you respond without even thinking about it?
My purpose is to empower, equip, motivate and inspire others to maximize their potential. It took me 40 years to realize what it was, but now I am certain. That's why I am here, that is my purpose.
So...... it grieves my heart when I see others sad, broken, with bad attitudes, disgruntled, ungrateful, not passionate, unappreciative, unfriendly, and overwhelmed with constant worry. How can we be all we can with those weights heavily weighing us down. How can we make a difference in another human beings life, if our focus, demeanor and responses are negatively impacting who we really are? How can we change the lives of theses precious little ones who have been given the opportunity to be led by us. Things are not as bad as they appear. Trust me if you were to look around you will see worse. We must regain the thoughts of what made us go into education in the first place. We must find hope in the eye of the storm, faith in the midst of tragedy, happiness in the presence of sadness, and love in lieu of anger.
At SPP, I see hope, I feel gratitude, I hear laughter, I smell the aroma of inspiration, and I taste success. We are the best staff around and I love everyone on it. so again I say.... my purpose and my passion is to empower, equip, motivate and inspire.....for you and the students!
Being in your classrooms, amazes me all the time. Magic is happening and it is because of you! Keep the fires going and the flames flamed high. Because........ you too have the purpose to empower, equip, motivate and inspire your students to maximize their potential! Keep Rocking! Happy Easter!!!

Making our Hive Thrive
K- Great STEAM Lab lesson ideas and designs! This team looked at Makers Spaces and shared great ideas! Thanks Mrs. Bauer for leading this discussion!
1st- Teachers are giving students concrete math experiences which will later lead to abstract understanding.
2nd- Teachers are doing a great job creating explicit written response examples and allowing students to evaluate their answers as well as the answers that others construct.
Counselor Corner
Bee Buck Party
The party will be held on Friday, May 29 from 9:00-11:00. The Ice Cream Parlor will be here to serve ice cream to those students who have earned enough bee bucks. Teachers, you also have the option of having another "Global School Play Day" in your room. You can have your students play, in your classroom, for 30-60 minutes, however long works for you. The cost of the day is 50 bee bucks. If the students do not earn the bee bucks, please work it out with another teacher for those kids to go into their classroom where instruction continues as normal during your play time. You have to make sure students are earning bee bucks for their good choices and we are not giving bee bucks just to let them have the party. There should be plenty of time for them to get to 50 bee bucks by the end of May.
You can pick the time when your class can play in the classroom, but I will be making a schedule for classrooms to get ice cream.
Preparing for Summative Conferences
L is for Light Bulb
Thomas Edison said, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." We tell our students that failure is part of learning, but often forget to apply that truth to our own lives.
The curse of skilled practitioners is that they make their tasks look easy. Behind the scenes, scores of late nights, untold hours, numerous iterations, and heartbreaks set the stage for success.
If someone told you teaching would be easy, they lied. It's not supposed to be easy; it's supposed to be worth. it.
