Software All Bobcats Can Use

As we have started making our way into the school year both in person and remotely, there are some computer software programs I want to make each family aware of. These programs provide additional learning in reading and math, and are provided for each Nixon learner whether they are on site or learning remotely this fall. Please take some time to learn about the programs and encourage your children to work on them at home, too.

ST Math: ST Math is a district purchased math program that leverages the brains innate spatial-temporal reasoning ability to solve mathematical problems. It is considered a visual instructional program (which means it doesn't rely on language or text to instruct), and it provides all learners equitable access to learning through challenging puzzles, non-routine problem solving, and informative feedback. To find ST Math from home, have your child log onto ClassLink using the website below and click on Jiji the Penguin:

iReady: iReady is a district purchased reading program that provides learners with lessons based on their individual skill level and needs, so your child can learn at a pace that is just right for them. The lessons are fun and interactive to keep your child engaged as they learn. If you are familiar with the program we used last year (Lexia Core 5), iReady will seem familiar as the tasks and assignments are similar. They focus on everything from phonics and phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension skills, and more. Go to ClassLink and click on the iReady Cube to get started.

DreamBox: DreamBox is a Nixon purchased math program that is adaptive to the learner's skill, common core aligned, and has imbedded tutorials for when learners need additional support. DreamBox's technology enables seamless integration of instruction and assessment before, during, and after each lesson. Individual, in-the-moment learning experiences are deeply personalized for every type of student to provide the right next lesson, at the right level of difficulty, at the right time. You can get to DreamBox from ClassLink and click on the Blue and Green d for DreamBox. For our remote learners in kindergarten, you can access DreamBox from your child's Clever Log-in (just like ST Math).

Take some time to check out these programs today!
