Promotion Ceremony Reminders!!
- Each candidate for promotion will receive 2 guest tickets.
- Guests are to park in the bus parking loop (in front of the theater). We will begin collecting tickets at the bus loop at 9:30 am. If you want to take your student with you after the ceremony, you will pre-sign out the student while at the bus loop. Ensure you are listed in PowerSchool as the pickup person.
- Eighth graders who are participating in the promotion ceremony should report to school by 8:45 am using their normal form of transportation. Students are to report to their homeroom class.
- Students are to wear dress clothing (dress slacks, dresses/skirts, and shirts/blouses). Student should not wear jeans, sweats, hoodies, shorts or mini dresses. Adhere to Richland School District One's dress code.
- Students will receive promotion instructions beginning at 8:45 am and complete their promotion announcement cards.
- Although this is a celebration, noise makers are not allowed. Also, please leave balloons in your car as they obstruct the vision of other guests.
- All guest seating is in the bleachers and in indicated sections of the gym floor.
- At the end of the ceremony, guest are to remain seated until the students have left the gym. Guest must then exit the campus so other students (6th/7th graders) can proceed to class. Ceremony students will return to their homeroom classes to pick up their official promotion certificates, along with other end of the year certificates.
- Those students who have been pre-signed out will report to the car loop to meet their parents/guardians for early dismissal. This process will reduce crowds in the main office.

Getting Ready for Athletics in 2023 - 2024
Sports Physicals
On June 6, 2023, at 5pm in the gym, sports physicals will be available to all Sanders students who are interested in participating in a sport next school year. The cost for the physical is $20 (cash). Parents/guardians must remain with students during the process of having the physical completed. Students without a parent/guardian will not be able to have a physical completed.

Summer School for Attendance Seat Time
For Those Who Have Not Yet Been Cleared for Promotion to the Next Grade
If your child has had excessive absences this year and has not yet been cleared for promotion to the next grade, please contact the principal at andrenna.smith@richlandone.org or call 803-738-7575 and discuss the matter with the school's administrative assistant, LaAja Tolliver. If you have been notified that you are to attend summer school for seat time, ensure you complete the summer school link that was sent to the parent/guardian's email.
Summer School for Content Recovery
For Those Who are Failing 1 or 2 Core Classes
If you have been notified by your teacher that you have failed ELA, Math, Science, or Social Studies, you will need to ensure you register for summer school using the link that was sent to the parent/guardian's email. If you have failed more than 2 core classes, you will not be permitted to attend summer school. Contact Harriett Davis at harriett.davis@richlandone.org for questions regarding academics.

Library Books Past Due
Got Library Books? Library books were due May 12th. See Mrs. Schwallier if you're not sure what books you have checked out. Notices will be emailed and sent to ELA teachers by May 15th.
Summer Information
Dress Code
As the weather gets warmer, students are beginning to wear less. Please remind your child that by Richland One board policy, we must enforce a standardized dress code at W. G. Sanders Middle School.
Please ensure your children have their laptops.
Additional Important Reminders
Cell phones are to be powered off, stored in lockers/book bags and not visible.
Do not drop off children at afterschool/weekend events. Remain with your child.
Students must wear ID's every day, all day.
Only clear bags are allowable at athletic events.
Students cannot be dropped off at school prior to 8:00 am. Supervision is at 8am
Students arriving at 8:45 am or after, must be signed in by a parent/adult.
