Week of February 27 to March 3, 2017
Recent studies reveal that although there are currently 13 million unemployed Americans, nearly three million jobs remain unfilled due to a lack of skills necessary for employment in highly advanced fields such as engineering, advanced manufacturing, and technology (Daggett, 2013; U.S. Dept. of Education, 2012).
Career & Technical Education Middle Grades Programs Weekly Events/Updates

- Permission slips to go home by homeroom teachers to all 8th grade students for the visit to SHS on Thursday, March 2, 2017).
- SHMS Exploring Biotechnology Field Trip to UNC-Pembroke Nursing Department
- 2nd Semester 8th Grade students to submit their Job Shadowing Site Selection (Select here for link to form to complete)

CTE Showcase
Select here to view a variety of Programs of Study to help students create a 4-year plan and beyond. CTE courses are open to everyone and studies have show that students who enter high school that are provided with guidance and advisement to develop a plan of study are more likely to graduate and pursue some post-secondary education after graduation.
