Transmission

The virus is spreading through high risk behaviors including

  • Unprotected oral, vaginal, or anal sexual intercourse,
  • Sharing needles, such as needles used to inject drugs and those used for tattooing

Symptoms

  • extreme weakness or fatigue
  • rapid weight loss
  • heavy sweating at night
  • swollen lymph glands
  • chronic diarrhea

Treatments

  • Drugs to inhibit it (interfere with its growth) these parts have been successful in slowing the progress of the disease but there is still no cure for HIV/AIDS

Problems

HIV attaches to the CD4 cells infects them and causes the ability to fight off infections not to work

Prevention

  • Abstaining from sex
  • always using 1 atex condoms for all types of sexual intercourse
  • Avoiding contact with the bodily fluids through which HIV is transmitted
  • never sharing needles
