Crippen Tech & Media Center Update

Do Your Students Search for Images?

I want to introduce everyone to a website I recently learned about.

www.photosforclass.com

From the photosforclass.com website:

Teachers have told us they need a place to access safe images that are available to be used in the classroom and for educational purposes. Plus they want accurate image citations. We’ve heard you and created “Photos For Class” to meet your needs for images!

  • Safe G Rated Images - All images are appropriate for school setting thanks to Flicker safe Search and our proprietary filters - Read More
  • Automatic Citation - Downloaded images automatically cite the author and the image license terms - Read More
  • Creative Commons - All photos shown are to the best of our (and Flickr's) knowledge Creative Commons licensed for school use

What this means for Crippen teachers and students:

  • No worries about accidental inappropriate images
  • Students learn about correctly citing images (it is automatically done for them)

You will need to address this potential issues before you leave.

  • Print out all of your professional development certificates (Your new district and/or TEA may want these in the future)
  • Important emails should be printed out or forwarded to your personal email
  • Transfer or save items in your Google Drive to another location

3rd - 5th Grade BigBrainz Pilot in Ms. McElroy's Computer Lab

We have gotten off to a slow start with our BigBrainz pilot in Ms. McElroy's Copmuter Lab. We ran into some video cards that needed updated and Torri has not taken care of everything. BigBrainz has given us an additional week to pilot their program, so the pilot will run until April 17th. During this time 3rd - 5th grade teachers will be responsible for iStation testing in their classroom. If you have questions regarding the required timelines to complete iStation testing please get with Sandra Lee.

Upcoming Video Conference Opportunities for your students

If you would like your class to participate in one of the video conferences listed below, please let me know. I will get you registered and set up to participate on the day of the event.
