I Can Be Repentant & God Forgives Me!
This Sunday we're talking about repentance and forgiveness through the story of David.
In the gospel, the sins we repent of are already forgiven before we even repent. Such an incredible love changes the tone of our repentance The Greek word for repent is metanoeo, which literally means to change your mind. Repentance is about learning to think differently. It’s something you do in your mind, not with your behavior. Changing the way you think will then affect your emotions and your behavior.
As we are serving kids, let's remember that we get to be ambassadors of forgiveness. We get to extend the forgiveness that God has for them in a way that they can see and understand. We get to partner with the Lord to shepherd their hearts and show them what repentance looks like, what it looks like to change the way we think.
Remember, as we're walking through this series we're focusing on being united in prayer over 2 things: what the heart of God is like and how we (us and kids) can be people after God's heart.
Gods Heart- God Forgives Me
My Heart- A Heart After God Is Repentant
This week let's pray for these things:
- Father, show me YOUR HEART! Remind me that forgiveness is already in your presence. That your grace is more than enough for me. That you came so that you could draw us towards repentance.
- Give me a heart that's REPENTANT. Soften my heart. Make it sensitive to your Spirit. Search my heart and bring to mind anything that is not agreement with you. Change my thinking, make it more like yours. Give me a heart that is quick to repent!
