Oakwood Principal's Office
What's Going on in the Principal's Office?!
My Challenge to You
Toward the end of the faculty meeting last week I asked all of you to think about what inspires you. I know that this is not the type of question that you expect to get near the end of a long day... at the end of a faculty meeting. I asked the question because I truly believe it is important to know what inspires you. Once you know your source(s) of inspiration you then know how to keep yourself going when times are tough AND you know how to help inspire others.
One of the things that I shared with all of you that inspires me is life. This weekend, as a part of living life, Amanda & I ran the Houston Half Marathon along with Amanda's father. Crazy I know... but oh So Inspiring!
There are all kinds of people that take on the challenge of running a 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, Full Marathon, & beyond. This particular race weekend brought together 25,000+ strangers that had one common goal... to achieve the goal they had set for themselves months or in some cases years earlier.
When you take part of a major running event you see so many things along the journey of the course. You see families that are screaming and yelling for their loved one; you see people holding signs in support of 25,000 strangers... just wishing them well; you see runners that write messages to their loved ones that either cannot run or have passed on from this life and they run in their honor; you see people that are celebrating having beat cancer; you see blind runners that have running guides with them; you see neighborhoods cheering and celebrating the runners that have passed down their streets one Sunday morning... and there is so much more that you see but in short you see inspiration all around you.
So if you did not have much of an answer when I asked the question of what inspires you then I challenge you to find your inspiration. No, you don't have to start running to find inspiration. You just need to find what gets you excited, moving, thinking, believing, re-energized...
When you are inspired you will find it easy to pass that inspiration on to others. Once you begin to pass along the inspiration you really have began to change the world.
Think. Achieve. Succeed.
