-Oppenheimer earned a degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of California, Berkley.

-He also received a doctorate at Göttingen while developing what became known as the "Born-Oppenheimer method."

Major Contributions

J. Robert Oppenheimer helped to create the atomic bomb during WWII. The chief advisor, Oppenheimer, said, "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds," after helping to create the first atomic bomb during the Manhattan Project. The bomb wad detonated on July 16, 1945 during the Cold War. His influence on Physics and the world was so substantial, seeing as he discovered how to split atoms and created the power of possible world destruction.
