FROM THE DESK OF MR. FRAY
GBHS Bobcats-
What a great start to our new school year! The energy our 2,500+ students and 150+ staff brought to the building this year is contagious and I look forward to seeing all the great things that are accomplished throughout the coming year. Our first major order of business as a high school community is homecoming week from September 11 – 15. This week is always a great way for students, staff, families and the entire GB community to connect and celebrate their pride in being a Bobcat. I encourage all of our students to find a way to participate in the spirit of the week. Information on spirit days, hallway decorating, interclass games, the parade, football game and homecoming dance will all be shared by our student government during the first week of September.
Over the next few weeks, we will see our students settle into routines. Unfortunately, some of these routines are old habits that are not productive to being successful at school. Please continue to check in with your student on their school progress and remind them of their responsibilities to be at school, on time, each and every day. There is no greater predictor of school success than good attendance!
Finally, all of our students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch each day. This eligibility is leading to an increase in the number of students accessing our food services and they are working hard to identify best practices for meeting the increased demand. In order to assist us with this new opportunity for students, we ask two things:
- All families MUST fill out the application for free breakfast and lunch. This is crucial for the school to receive the funding necessary to provide this service.
- Remind your student to remain patient and respectful of our food service staff. They are working hard to meet the increased need and continue to provide the quality options they have always provided to our students.
Thank you for your continued support of GBHS and Go Bobcats!
