Hello Norris Lions!

I hope you are all doing well during this very busy time of year! One of my favorite things about this season is seeing our student music performances, both Band, Orchestra, and our Pride Singers! We are so fortunate to have some of the best music programs in our school district, and hope to see you all tonight at the Pride Singers concert at Millard South High School!

Please remember that if you signed up to donate items to our Norris Giving Tree, those items are due to the office Monday to allow time to distribute to families. We have an exciting full week ahead, including an assembly celebrating our school wide MAP Growth goal!

Parents are invited to join us at our School Improvement Team meeting on Monday, December 12 in the library from 4:00-5:30. We will be reviewing out Site Plan, and making plans for continued progress toward our school mission and strategic plans. Please reach out to Mrs. Dolezal if you would like to attend!

Norris Elementary is coordinating a GIVING TREE for Norris families in need during this holiday season. The following sign up is a wish list from families in our community. We would love your support and help! Simply review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up for the gift(s) you would like to purchase and donate. Then, drop the unwrapped gifts off at Norris Elementary no later than DECEMBER 12TH with a note attached with the following information: The code/number of the item (example AB1) For gift cards, please include the code/number (example AB1) and the dollar amount of the gift card. We are ready to take orders for the 2022-2023 Norris Yearbook! Please use the link provided or scan the QR Code on the flyer to order! Orders are due prior to Winter Break, December 20th!

Please see the flyer below. We will be collecting money through December 16! The more money we raise, the more teachers we get to pie in the face. All money is to be turned into the bucket in the office.

Students may then vote individually for the teacher they want to see pied in the face. Here is a LINK or you may scan the QR code on the right to "vote" for a teacher to get pied.

Our goal is $2,000. If we meet that goal we will pie 7 teachers! We're off to a great start and are more than half-way to reaching our goal!

Every $50 more we will add a teacher onto the pie roster.

Hello from the Health Room!

In accordance with Nebraska State Statute, #173 NAC 7, Millard Public Schools are required to provide a health screening that includes a dental, vision, and hearing screening as well as weight and height. We had a few school years where we paused on this due to COVID, but we are back to doing them this year! The health room will be doing a full screening on students in Pre-K through 4th grade on January 5th. Kindergartners will only be screened for the items missing on their Kindergarten Physicals. You do have the option to opt your child(ren) out of the screening process. The health room will be able to take a written or verbal decision; however, there is a form that needs to be filled out and signed by a physician before February 13th, 2023. Contact the Norris health office at (402) 715-8341, or email the Norris school nurse, Lisa Semanko at lesemanko@mpsomaha.org with questions.

According to the CDC, kids ages 8-18 years spend an average of 7.5 hours in front of a screen every day. It’s easy to be overwhelmed by that number, and if you feel that way, you’re not alone. But believe it or not, lowering that number is easier than you think.

"Have you heard the news? Norris Elementary PTO has been selected as the beneficiary of the HyVee Reusable Bag Program that supports local non-profits! Each time a $2.50 red "My Heart" Reusable Bag is purchased at the Hy-Vee at 144th & Stony Brook during the month of January we will receive a $1 donation."

Everyone is welcome to attend our PTO Meetings. No child care provided, but children are welcome. It's a GREAT way to get involved!

Lancer's game January 28th. 3rd-5th graders are invited to sing the National Anthem on the ice. Singers can get a free ticket, family, friends, and other students will need to purchase a ticket.
