Watch DOGS
Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is the father involvement initiative of the National Center for Fathering that organizes fathers and father figures in order to provide positive male role models for students and to enhance school security. Currently this program is in 46 states with 2,800 active programs. Blanton has had this program for several years and we are excited to have it again on campus.
We encourage all fathers and father figures who are interested in partnering with us this school year to attend the Kick-off event on Thursday, September 28th at 6:00 in the Cafeteria. We will have volunteers available to engage your children during the meeting. After the meeting, we invite dads and children to have pizza. We hope to see you there.
The Watch DOG program was featured on the Today Show. If you are interested in that interview, please use this link. You can also use the same link to find out more information about the Watch DOG program.

Meet Our First Grade Team
What do Blanton 1st grade teachers enjoy about teaching 1st graders?
Mrs. Branch ~ " It is such a pivotal year for learning to read!"
Ms. Dodson ~ "I am able to make an impact on students' love for learning and school at an early age."
Mrs. Shoemake ~ "I have the opportunity to inspire students. It's so rewarding to watch first graders grow in knowledge, confidence, and skills."
Box Tops and Used Markers
This year we are also collecting dried-up markers of any kind. These will be recycled with the Crayola company. Mrs. Dorrell has a box in the gym for the collection. No need to write your teacher's name on the box tops (as it says below).
