Principal Message
Today was a beautiful day filled with community and excitement. We loved having our families on campus. It is always a delight to welcome our community to campus and watch the smiling faces light up our school.
This week at Reagan we navigated internet issues but were able to make sure our students engaged in their learning. We are in the process of MAPS and ISIP assessments. Progress Reports will be coming out on September 18th and parent conferences will be held on September 25.
As we move into the school year we are thinking about ways to communicated, most effectively, with our community. Next Friday we will send out a Google form to get feedback on our communication processes and the channels you use for communication. Please take time to think about what works best for your family.
Next week we will be having our first lock down drill. We know these drills can be stressful for students and wanted to provide you with advanced notice in case you would like to have a conversation with your student prior to or after the drill. We are clear in our communication that this is just a drill, however if you have any questions please reach out to Chelsea Murphy, Assistant Principal at chelsea.murphy@leanderisd.org.
September 13th will be the Vista Ridge Homecoming Parade. We are excited to represent Reagan. Please see below for more information.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Alison Pennington
Principal

Traffic Reminder
Thank you for doing your part in ensuring the safety of all of our students during drop off and pick up. Your cooperation is appreciated with driving slowly in the designated direction and using the crosswalk to cross. Please remember to remain in your cars during drop off and pick up in order to speed up the process and maintain student safety. We urge you to please move your child’s seat to the passenger side of the car and practice exiting the car by themselves.
We must emphasize that these procedures must be followed:
- The bus lane is not accessible to parents at any time
- Double parking and/or leaving your car unattended in the drop off line is not allowed
- Please pull up as far as you can in the car line to speed up the drop off/pick up process
- All bike riders, adults and children, must walk bikes and scooters on campus for safety and proper modeling for our students
- Motorized vehicles such as golf carts, mopeds and electric bikes need to go through the parent drop off/pick up line, or park and walk to school
Learn more about our campus transportation guidelines and expectations by clicking on the videos below.
Considerations will be made concerning tardy slips in the event that the car lines are excessively long, or we experience inclement weather in the morning.
During morning drop off we have scheduled staff to help students get off their car between 7:10 and 7:30 am. Our doors do not open before 7:10 am and there is no adult supervision before this time. If you are dropping off after 7:30 am, please do so in the front of the school as all of the other doors will be locked and there will be no staff to help children get off their car or enter the building. Tardy bell rings at 7:30 am and classroom instruction begins promptly at this time.
Important Dates to Remember

September 22: Back to School Picnic 5:00 pm

https://sites.google.com/leanderisd.org/reaganelementaryquest/home/destination-imaginationThe Reagan Math Pentathlon Program needs YOU!
Math P is a national program that teaches students amazing math skills through playing 5 challenging games and then competing with other schools in a spring tournament. Reagan placed FIRST in the Central Austin division last year! Let's go RAYS!
We are excited about the upcoming year for Reagan Math Pentathlon. Before we can begin thinking about registration, we need to have a firm idea of how many coaches we will have in order to determine how many students can participate in each division. If you are interested in volunteering this year as a coach in our Math Pentathlon after-school club please fill out our interest form: HERE
Reagan Elementary has 3 divisions of Math Pentathlon. Each division will require a minimum of one main coach and an assistant coach responsible for teaching the games as well as several parent helpers to supplement learning and help with maintaining an orderly club time. The more helpers we have committed, the more students we can serve.
-Division 1 is for our Kinder and 1st grade students. The ratio for kids to parents for Division 1 is 4:1. Tentative tournament date is March 28th.
-Division 2 is for our 2nd and 3rd grade students. The ratio for kids to parents for Division 2 is 6:1. Tentative tournament date is April 25th.
-Division 3 is for our 4th and 5th grade students. The ratio for kids to parents for Division 3 is 6:1. Tentative tournament date is May 2nd.
We are needing parents who can jump in and be part of our award-winning program. You don't need to have any prior experience, and free training is available.
Reagan's Math Pentathlon Club has many children wanting to participate, however, we can only serve so many children. We need your help!!! If you haven't found your "niche" for volunteering, maybe Math Pentathlon is the right fit for you!

Cultural Celebrations
We're excited to celebrate Hispanic/ Latino Heritage month (September 15- October 15) along with Filipino American Heritage month (October 1- October 31)!
October 1-15 is a unique 2-week period where Hispanic/ Latino Heritage Month and Filipino American Heritage month overlap. We are looking for community members (who love food and love to share it!) who can volunteer October 6 by donating or providing food (potluck style) for staff lunches. Please fill out the survey if you are interested. For questions, reach out to DEI chair, Katrina (reaganptadei@gmail.com)
Hey, Raaaaaaays! Look at the cash filling up our WTC bank so far! A special thank you to all who have donated toward our Write the Check campaign. We've seen giving from $20 to $500, we are thrilled to see our community come together making campus wishes come true!
In order to bring us closer to our goal, we're extending the campaign through September 22nd. We'll announce our final campaign total at the Back to School Picnic, Friday the 22nd!
If you haven't yet dropped off your cash/check or made a donation through the online store, please know there's still time and we are counting on you! Let's fill up our campus cash tank!
