Parent Drop-off Reminders
We know that morning drop-off can be a little busy, but please read the following reminders about the drop-off line. We want to make sure that all of our students and staff are safe:
- Wait patiently in line behind cars that are dropping off kiddos. Do not pass cars unless directed by a staff member.
- Students should get out of your car on the sidewalk side, but if they need to get out of the car on the street side, please have them wait for a staff member. The staff member will walk them around the front of your car to the sidewalk in case the car behind you starts rolling forward.
- Leave the crosswalk clear, as we have staff members who use the crosswalk from the parking lot to the building.
Thank you so much for your help!
Benchmark Testing - March 10th and 11th
Our 3rd graders will take math and reading benchmarks on Tuesday, March 10th and Wednesday, March 11th. This is an opportunity for students to practice their skills in preparation for the upcoming STAAR tests in May.
If you have a 3rd grader, please make sure he/she gets plenty of rest and eats a healthy breakfast on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please schedule medical appointments for after school on those days to ensure your child can complete the benchmarks during the time period.
If you are visiting campus on those days, please be aware that students will be taking the benchmarks in multiple locations throughout the building. We do ask that parents not visit 3rd graders for lunch on benchmark days. Thank you for your help in keeping our hallways quiet on those days.
3rd Grade Music Program
There will be a day performance with 3rd graders at 1:15 pm. If you would like to attend the performance, please arrive a little early to find a parking spot, sign-in through Raptor, and drop your driver's license off at the front desk.
PK/Kindergarten Round-Up - April 2nd
There are additional eligibility requirements for Pre-K students. If you have specific questions about registration, please contact our registrar, Christine Harris at christine_harris@lagovista.txed.net. We look forward to seeing all of our future Vikings on April 2nd!
TxConnect is Now Ascender
ASCENDER has taken over with a few changes.
- The app for your cell phone no longer works. The company is working on creating another one.
- Until the app is created, you must go through the district website. www.lagovistaisd.net
- On the Main Page, go to Parent Connection, halfway down the page on the left.
- On new page, scroll down about halfway, look for Keeping Track of Grades. You will then click on the ASCENDER link.
- Log in like you normally did with TxConnect.
- If you have any questions or trouble, please call 512-267-8300 #2503.

COLLEGE DAY IS EVERY WEDNESDAY...WEAR YOUR FAVORITE COLLEGE SHIRT!
Counselor's Corner
The character trait we have been learning about this month is Fairness. Fairness means practicing justice, equity, and equality, cooperating with one another, and recognizing the uniqueness and value of each other. In our guidance lessons students are learning how teachers show fairness in the classroom, and that fairness does not always mean that everyone gets the same, but that everyone gets what they need. We have also learned about ways to play fairly at recess. Some classes had the opportunity to use puppets to act out scenarios showing kind and fair ways to play with friends, and these were great! We have some very creative and talented students! :)
