Inspired Learning Day TOMORROW
Inspired Learning Day is tomorrow, February 6 2024.
We have planned some exciting projects and adventures and we can't wait to see them in action. We are thrilled that students get to take a break from their normal school schedule to explore different options. We are so thankful for everyone's efforts to bring our Portrait of a Learner to life through some inspiring activities for our students.
All students will be going outside for a portion of inspired learning day. Please have your student dress warmly. Students need to wear jackets, hats, glove and boots. Students will be outside for almost 75 minutes.
7th Grade Screenings
7th grade screenings will take place this week.
7th grade students are screened for vision, hearing, height and weight. If your child wears glasses, they should have them the day of the screenings. Scoliosis screenings will not take place until the Spring.
If your child is screened at your pediatrician and you want them excluded from school screenings, please contact the health office at gfarquharson@mursd.org or at 508-634-1589. A written note is also acceptable.
8th Grade Baby Pictures
Attention parents of 8th graders. Please submit a baby picture to miscoeyearbook@mursd.org by Tuesday, February 20. We typically receive pictures that are from ages 0-5 years old.

Youth Art Month 2024
Youth Art Month is a nationally celebrated event held each year during the month of March. It is designed to call attention to the importance of quality art education as it celebrates the talents of our youth. This is quite an honor for our middle school students at Miscoe Hill as each art teacher is only allowed to submit up to eight pieces of artwork from the school year!
This year's exhibit will be virtual and will be posted March 18, 2024 on Massachusetts Art Education Association’s website: massarted.com/youth-art-month . The exhibit will remain up through April.

Volleyball Community Project
Hello families of Mendon and Upton! Below is a picture of members of the 2023 Miscoe Hill volleyball team. These teammates are embarking on a full year project to sustain and strengthen volleyball at Miscoe Hill Middle School and for the youth of our communities.
In November, they hosted a clinic and practice for 6th and 7th grade girls from Whitinsville Christian. They are planning on running a 6 week clinic in April with Next Step Sports Academy. LIke last year, they will be implementing a 2 day free clinic in June for Miscoe students.
These outstanding student athletes are very passionate about volleyball and they want to share their experiences with other kids in hopes that they will learn to love volleyball, too. One of their hopes is that a youth volleyball program will develop for kids in Mendon and Upton.
Another part of their project is to give back to our community. On February 16th, during the last period of the day, they will take their perfect season record and challenge the faculty at our school. Not only will this be a great send off before February vacation but there will be a collection for the Mendon Food Pantry. They will be collecting nonperishable food items and toiletries for people in need. They hope that students, families and faculty will help with this endeavor.
Items Needed:

Brownie mix Crushed Tomatoes

Shaving cream Whole Tomatoes
