Workshop
Feasibility Study
Michael Thompson from Stantec, the firm hired in 2015 by Parkland to develop a Feasibility Study to forecast enrollment and necessary capital improvement projects, presented recommendations which can be viewed by clicking here.
Stantec made presentations at School Board meetings earlier this year which outlined enrollment projections that helped the District address rapid growth in the southern tier of the District and for the implementation of full-day kindergarten which will occur this fall.
This was the final presentation of the Study. The entire Study focused on the following projects and timeline:
2016-2020 - Redistricting effort to alleviate growth immediately and need for new Elementary School in the southwest corner of the District
2016-2025 - Capital Improvement/Maintenance Projects
2020-2025 - Options to address the aging Troxell Building
2025-2030 - Parkland High School enhancements to address growth and future learning initiatives and plans to renovate the aging Schnecksville Elementary School

Roundtable
The Board congratulated Richard Sniscak for winning the PA Superintendent of the Year award from the Pennsylvania Music Educator's Association for embracing the arts as as a rich part of the curriculum. Rich also won the Superintendents to Watch Award from the National School Public Relations Association for demonstrating dynamic leadership and using new communication technology to expand two-way communication and outreach efforts. In this program, NSPRA recognizes superintendents, with fewer than five years' experience, who understand that effective communication leads to school and student success. There were only 25 Superintendents in the country who were awarded this honor. As a result, he will be highlighted individually in an NSPRA national publication in the coming months. Finally, in March, Rich won the Top Leadership Award from the Morning Call's Top Workplace Campaign. In addition the School District won a Top Workplace Award. Top Leader and Workplace contests were driven by staff feedback surveys.
The Board and Mr. Sniscak congratulated Tim Moncman on his appointment as the new Head Football Coach.
The Board enjoyed the student recognition program this evening and congratulated all of the wonderful students who they were able to meet! Rob Cohen said that is an honor to be part of this team and that they are lucky to work under Mr. Sniscak's leadership.
Rich congratulated the students and cast of the Titanic. He said you could tell how hard everyone worked on the set design and the music and the singing and choreography and he congratulated them on a fantastic production.
Mr. Kennedy mentioned that the cast of Titanic was outstanding and he was glad to see such a large cast of so many students involved. He mentioned that Jeremy Gipson's billboard is amazing to see in person.
Both Board President David Kennedy and Mr. Sniscak credited the entire administration and staff for the awards that were shared this evening.
