Isham News
March 2023

From the Principal's Desk
How wonderful to see the sunshine and begin to feel the warmer temperatures! Hopefully very soon, tiny little buds on trees will appear and once again we will be outside mowing the green grass. How quickly time passes as we prepare for spring and the many events we have lined up this month.
Isham will celebrate 100 Years of Excellence in Education the evening of Thursday, March 23 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. The 100 Year celebration also ties in with the Ice Cream Social/Open House. All are welcome to join the Isham staff and families (past and present) as you stroll through the memorabilia and pictures from Isham over its 100 year history.
3rd & 4th grade state testing will take place on Wednesday, April 19 & Thursday, April 20. Only 3rd and 4th graders will come to school those days. Grades preschool - 2nd will not be in session.
Spring break is right around the corner. For those of you who are traveling, I wish you safe travels. Please remember to contact the office if your child is going to be absent from school during a regularly scheduled school day. The rest of you who are staying home, I hope you have a fun and relaxing week.
Sincerely,
Mr. Steven Brady

Counselor's Corner
Happy March! This month marks the beginning of spring. A time of renewal! I’m
looking forward to all the new and exciting things this month is sure to bring.
In February, the school counseling program continued with classroom guidance
lessons and individual meetings with students. In classroom guidance, students
participated in a social emotional lesson about “a wrinkled heart” and what we can
do and say to smooth out the wrinkles. We also celebrated “National Acts of Kindness
Day” on February 17th and each student was able to fill out a heart with a kind act to
place on our Kindness Tree. I am excited to see how the tree fills with Kindness this March!
In Classroom Guidance, students will begin Career Exploration! Our second grade classes will have a special book presented to them by the Four Cities Compact Teacher Academy Program and a lesson delivered by the Teacher Academy students. This is always an
exciting times as the students begin learning and exploring about their future.
Our Character trait for this month is Perseverance. Let’s encourage each other to
persevere through the tough times. We are all here for you at Isham Elementary
School!
