SVDP School

December 11, 2020 Newsletter

Hello SVDP Community,

With our news last Friday night that we had received notice of a positive COVID test result in our community, I want to thank and commend everyone for the quick adjustment back to distance learning this week. Teachers, parents, and students pivoted and seemed not to miss a beat.

Many of you participated in our pop test site on Monday, and we are aware that the test results have not been received. We are working with the testing company to try and rectify the issue.

In light of all the factors that impact both our physical and emotional safety, we have worked with the diocese and have decided to remain in distance learning up to and after our Christmas break. This means that students will not return to campus next week. After Christmas break, distance learning will resume from January 4 - 15. This provides a responsible window for everyone to quarantine and / or test and receive COVID test results. You can register for the SVDP pop-up site on Wednesday, January 6th. See below for details.

Monday, January 18 was already a planned school holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Assuming all of our precautions have been successful, we will welcome students back to campus on Tuesday, January 19 for in-person learning. Wednesday, January 20 will follow the same schedule as a Tuesday (Cohorts A & B for grades K - 4 and Cohort A for grades 5 - 8).

Please let me know if you have questions.

UPDATE - Challenge for the Participation Lead

Earlier this week, we had a leadership change, when 1st Grade pulled ahead of Kindergarten for the participation lead at 58%. However, right before we released this newsletter, Kindergarten retook the lead at 62%. The first class to reach 100% participation will receive a COVID-friendly celebration. This program is very important to our efforts to bring your child the best experience at SVDP and to keep tuition increases at a minimum.

Donations can be made via check (made payable to SVDP), FACTS account, online, or stocks / securities.

5th & 6th Grade Sandwich Drive

Not even distance learning can dampen SVDP's community service and spirit. The 5th & 6th grade classes managed to make and deliver over 500 sandwiches to a St. Vincent de Paul Society shelter this week! Thank you to all the students and parents that didn't let our own inconvenience deter you from helping others!

Photo: there were so many sandwiches, Olivia Van de Braak (5th) had to get help from her brother, Luke (7th).

MugsyClicks - order your school photos

This week you should have received an email with access to your child's proofs and ordering information. We are working on a make-up date for those students that were unable to attend the sessions on December 1st or 4th.

COVID-19 Testing at Saint Vincent de Paul

January 6, 2021

Big picture

We have arranged an on site COVID testing on Wednesday, January 6th. Employees, registered school families, and the immediate family members of either group are invited to utilize this service.

This test is not mandatory, but a courtesy service given the choices people must make about travel and family interactions around Christmas. The test date is scheduled for Wednesday, to avoid our COVID campus protocols, where students are only allowed to enter / exit campus once per day. We hope this gives you more flexibility in scheduling.

The test site will be open from 8:30 – 3:30. You must have an appointment, there will be no walk-ins permitted. If you wish to take part in this testing program, click here for an appointment time. Each individual must have their own appointment time.

Links to the necessary forms will be included in your confirmation email.

At your appointment, please bring:

  • A photocopy of the front and back of your medical insurance ID card. They will need one copy for every family member being tested, even if the information is the same. The paperwork stays with the sample, so it cannot be shared.
  • Uninsured Form (if applicable)
  • Completed Patient Test Request Form
  • Completed Consent for Venous Puncture (if applicable)

The test site will be set up in the SVDP gym, please enter the Green St gate and use the west side gym doors.
