Unit 7: Ethics in Conflict
Students will identify and analyze ethical dilemmas that occur due to, in congruence with, or because of conflict. We will focus on the American Civil War, WWI, WWII, and modern military/political/societal conflicts.
Essential Questions for Ethics in Conflict:
1. How and when can conflict be rationalized?
2. How can conflict be both positive and negative? (i.e. ethical conflict or war)
3. Does war drive technological advances, or do technological advances drive war?
4. Do governments consider the ethics of weaponry development and usage?
5. How do ethics impact conflict and change due to the conflict?
6. How can conflict be the solution to a problem?
