Message From the Principal

Lake Tapps Families,

We've had a busy week! Our Veterans' Day assembly was a huge success. Thanks to Mrs. Housden for all she's done to create such a wonderful event, to the classroom teachers for making sure our halls were filled with beautiful artwork, and to all of you who came to honor our veterans with us!

We also started after school clubs this week. Many thanks to Mrs. Christy Allen for spearheading that effort!. And Mr. Smith did his PE showcase too! I'm continually amazed by the rich traditions and enriching opportunities this school district provides for its students!

Mrs. Compton joins our staff (part-time) on Monday. She'll be supporting us in the lunchroom, office, and library. Please help us welcome her!

Enjoy the three day weekend!

Sincerely,

Paula Bond

What’s happening in the library?

We are continuing to equip students with the skills they need to find books independently in the library!

First graders are now able to check out nonfiction books. They have been learning about call numbers, how books are organized in the library, and how to use library signs to find books they want.

This week, our second and third graders learned to search for books in our library catalog.

To access our catalog at home, please have students go to http://destiny.dieringer.wednet.edu

and click on Lake Tapps Elementary School.

Encourage your student to write down the title and call number of the books they would like to check out, and they will be ready to find those books on their library day.

Thank you for supporting our Lake Tapps readers!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Allan

Flu Shot and Vaccine Clinic Monday, Nov 14, at NTMS for Students and Families; 2:30-6:15 pm

We are partnering with Walgreens Pharmacy to offer flu shots and the Moderna Covid bivalent booster (as well as Tdap vaccine for 7th graders, required for school attendance). Registration is required for an appointment, linked here. A separate registration time is required for each person in a family. Minors 17 years old and younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Information:

  • Walgreens can bill for most major insurance plans, except for Molina and Amerigroup. Please bring your insurance card and wear short sleeves.

  • Please complete the consent for vaccination here and bring it to your appointment.

  • We will need to give Walgreens staff your student’s name and date of birth if you would like them to get a Tdap vaccine. Walgreens needs to verify insurance payment ahead of time for this vaccine only. We will notify you if they tell us it is not covered by insurance.

  • Walgreens is able to administer flu shots to anyone age 3 and older (all flu vaccine is preservative free), Moderna Covid bivalent boosters to anyone age 6 and older, and Tdap to students age 11 and older.

  • Please bring your Covid vaccination card if you would like a Moderna Covid booster, and your student’s vaccination record for the Tdap vaccine.
