Elkton Elementary School Memo

A Note from Mrs. Palmer
Dear EES Families,
NO SCHOOL TOMORROW, JANUARY 18TH- VIRTUAL OR IN PERSON.
No meals at ERHS on Monday, Jan. 18th (holiday). Tuesday, January 19th, there will be 4 days of meals provided for children not in the building. Meals can be picked up at ERHS 3:30-5:30.
There is some misinformation out there that schools can vaccine your child without permission. This is not true. Schools can't even administer over the counter medicine without parental consent. Parents receive a phone call and a note home, if your child visits the school clinic. Our school nurse, Mrs, Baugher, does an excellent job communincating with families. There are no vaccines being given to EES students.
I have seen an article or two about Washington DC allowing vaccines for minor without parental consent (11 years old and up). This was in reference to the human papillomavirus vaccine and not the Covid- 19 vaccine. This article may have started the rumors out there. You can read one of those articles below.
I also want to share this article on natural consequences. Parenting is a hard job and there is no manual on how to be the perfect parent. I found this article on how a grown son wishes his parent had shown "tough love" for him when he made a mistake as a third grader. Good read on effective consequences.
I wish you well...

Book requests can be made through See-Saw or through the library catalog, Destiny, and placing a hold under the student's name.
Thank you!
