A Message from Mrs. Figueroa
Dear P.S. 188Q families,
As we continue to move closer to the end of the school year, the students continue to learn each day. School begins at 8:00 a.m. The doors at the main building open at 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. at the Annex. We have allotted a ten minute window for students to arrive to school without being marked late. Students that arrive after 8:10 a.m. will be marked late. We need your help getting your children to school on time. Every minute counts!
Our school crossing guard is currently out. I will do my best to be outside to help with students crossing the street. Please be patient, careful and vigilant.
Thank you to the PTA for sponsoring the BMX Bike Show. It was an amazing event. We hope you will join the PTA on Saturday for the Spring Family Day.
As part of the District 26 Civics for All initiative, some of our students are taking part "Take Action" projects. In class 1-101 and 2-202, the students are taking action to beautify our school. Mrs. Radigan's class cleaned out the science garden and planted some beautiful flowers. Mrs. Brellas and Mrs. Fitzpatrick's class weeded and planted some flowers in the planters in the front of the school and some other areas in the front of the school. Our upper grade classes are working on creating a "Buddy Bench" to ensure that all students have a friend at recess.
Please know that May 16th is "Plastic Free Lunch Day." To learn more, please click here!
Here's to a great week ahead!!!

District 26 "I Am" Project
As members of the District 26 community, we would like you to consider participating in this great project.
Since 2016, we have continued as a District Community to grow and learn from this work in many ways together. In response to the feedback we received from our students in our DEL Student Survey in the Spring 2021, we want to continue to build understanding of cultural awareness and racial identities by recreating the "I Am" Project video to share who the District 26 community is in 2022.
We welcome all members of District 26 - students, staff, families, and community members - to share their response to one or more of the following prompts in a short video:
- Who are you?
- Where are you from?
- How do you want to be known?
- What means most to you?
- What you aspire to achieve?
Ending your video ultimately saying: “I am (one word)”
Please ensure your video is:
- Landscape in filming
- Well-lit and well-heard
- 20 seconds or less
- Submitted using this form by Monday, May 23, 2022.
Compiled videos will be shared with the community in June 2022 with a guide to deepen conversations with each other towards our shared goals and commitments. Thank you for your support in continuing this work with us and in sharing it with the community.
