A Christian orthodox
what is it and orgins
Mormonism is also know as the church of latter day saints, coming into exitsistance in the 1820s founded by Joseph smith. Since the start they have grown from a few converted to 12-13 million in 200 years. Early on Mormonism was a heavily discrimination religion, the hatred and miss treatment even lead to the death of the founder Joseph smith. Mormonism gained respect and numbers following his death with the new leader of the church of Lds(Latter day saints) Brigham young who migrated the religion to salt lake city.
Key beliefs
They believe that their church is the restoration of the Church as conceived by Jesus and that the other Christian churches lost true faith and following of the religion. God has a physical form and that he has married and can have children. And there are more than one god because followers can become a god in the afterlife. They strongly oppose abortion, homosexuality, unmarried sexual acts, pornography, gambling, tobacco, consuming alcohol, tea, coffee, and the use of drugs. A modern day misconception but once heavily practiced part of the faith was polygamy which was a man wedding more than one women openly. This was removed from practice in the late 1800 hundreds but caused a split between the church with some Mormons still wishing to partake. They follow only 4 scriptures which are The Holy Bible (King James Version), The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, Doctrine and Covenants A compilation of revelations and writings given since the restoration of the Church began and the Pearl of Great Price A selection from the revelations, translations and writings of Joseph Smith. All of these texts have there own interpretations that specifically and strongly apply to the religion and Mormon faith.
Mormon Holidays, Traditions, Rituals, and Rites
They celebrate few holidays the main two being Easter and Christmas, along with that some celebrate pioneer day which is is to honor and celebrate the arriving in salt lake city. Sunday is there day of worship and use this time to have communal worship with the community and usually last 3 hours during this time Scripture is read, group prayer, and Communion. Mormons commonly fast once a month to aid a Mormon in need by using the money not spent on food to feed other Mormons. Often donating a tenth of there income to the benefit of the religion. Baptism is performed as a rite but is often done so by ones father after a local bishop approves, child are baptized at 8 years of age what is believe to be the age of accountability. along with baptism they will baptis the deceased to ensure there place in heaven if they didn't not get the chance in there life time. In there faith it demonstrates ones love of there ancestors. Also they wear weird ass Mormon underwear because the reptilian army is going to steal there purity and souls if they don't.
Are they Christian?
Many Christians and other denominations of the christian faith deny Mormons and acknowledgement as Christians. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is certainly Christian to the extent that Christ is at the center of its beliefs. Individual Mormons try to live their lives following the teaching and example of Christ. What distinctly sets them apart from other Christians is humans can achieve godness, god had a physical form,he was married to mother goddess, and that god came from another planet. These are some defining traits of Mormonism separating it from root Christianity.
