It is Spring...for real this time!
Spring weather brings Spring fever. You know the symptoms: kids are bouncing off the walls, we are in between heat and air conditioning in the building so the classrooms start out around 50 degrees, but by noon they are near 1000 degrees, everyone hopes for a fire drill so that we can just walk outside for a few minutes, and the high school Spring "smell" is in full force. We have sprung forward in time, so the days our much longer, which we are all happy about during Spring Break and the summer, but while the school year is still in session it just makes the days LONGER. I know the symptoms too. Everyone is tired, and ready to close out this year, and move on to plans for next year. I know these feelings too. BUT we still have 5 weeks of instructional time this year, and we need to focus on the time we have left in this school year before we move on to the next. Let's rally for these 5 weeks, and remember that our kiddos need us to be focused in order to keep their focus. We need to be good colleagues to each other and remember that where kids begin next year really depends on where they end this year. Show off your best teaching these 5 weeks. Push the kids in your classroom to their potential. Don't let the students opt out.
Thanks for hanging in there with me for the next 5 weeks. Thanks for continuing to do what you do so well, even through some very tough times. Thanks for loving these kids even when it is hard to do...especially during the Spring fever season :)

Mr. Burden is going to distribute the new Dawg Tags cards during Advisory on Monday, April 23. The new cards have a new design, so you will be able to see the difference when kids present their new cards for rewards. Thank you for your continued support of our positive behavior system, and for awarding students for positive behaviors in your classrooms.

Another note of congratulations to Lloyd Gardner who was inducted into the KHSAA Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 21. Congratulations Lloyd!
PLEASE try to make it to prom on Saturday, April 28. It is amazing to see how different our kids react and behave when they dress up in nice clothes and have a decent meal. Come see our kiddos at their best on Saturday.
