Sixth Grade Camp- We Need You!
Sixth grade camp is an experience like no other, and it's exciting to see it coming to Wilson Middle School. As a sixth grade teacher this was my favorite part of sixth grade. It was an amazing time to build relationships with students, build community, and be one with nature. This year we have our three sixth grade houses heading to the forest:
- Camp 1 Sept. 25-27: Schultz/Schultz/Yurk
- Camp 2 Oct. 9-11: Koch/Davis
- Camp 3 Oct. 29-31: Ausprung/Brixius
We are looking for individuals who are willing to help supervise in the evening and/or the overnights. Here's what we are looking for:
- Someone to spend the night who is CPR certified (Camps 1 & 2)
- Someone to spend the night who is med trained (Camp 2)
- Camp 1-We need 4 males and 1 female to supervise overnights. (You could sign up for one or both nights)
- Camp 2-We need 3 males to supervise overnights (You could sign up for one or both nights)
- Camp 3-We need 2 males and 1 female to help with overnight supervision. (You could sign up for one or both nights)
Evening Stipend 4 pm-9 pm = $50
Overnight Stipend 9 pm- morning = $75
Both evening and overnight = $125
If you are interested and willing to help with camp supervision,
please add your name to the doc, School Forest Camp Supervisors.
Thanks for helping make this experience amazing for our students.
Team Building
Throughout the three days, students take part in a variety of team challenges, building relationships and growing as communicators.
Bioblitz
Kids identify a variety of species found in the School Forest.
Dinner Time
We gather together at each meal, enjoying the time to converse about our day.
Emergency Binders
Emergency binders are being updated for all classrooms. Once you receive your binder, please take the time to look over the contents. If you have any questions about any of the contents, please add your questions to the google doc, Safety Questions. We will discuss these questions during our safety meeting next week Wednesday, September 11th after school. You will need to add your class rosters to your folder. Please make sure you update your roster(s) anytime a change is made to keep your safety binder up to date.
Reserve Teacher Protocol
We wanted to take a minute to review the protocol for preparing for reserve teachers. Each teacher should create their own reserve teacher binder in the event that you become ill or take a personal day. In your binder, you would want to include the following:
- Your specific class schedule
- Lesson plans
- Emergency Binder: Let them know where it is and instruct them to look it over
- FYI on Students: Helpful information you think your reserve teacher would need to know to support them in having a successful day with your students
Available in your room you should have a current copy of your class rosters.
Kim will also give reserve teachers a folder that includes:
- Map
- Teacher Schedule
- Phone listing
- Confidentiality Letter
