Longhorn Update

Sendera Ranch Elementary, Northwest ISD

We did it, y'all! Many thanks to our kids, our staff, and our families for all the support this school year to make successful! As we reflect on this year, our students have made tremendous gains despite all the hurdles faced. Please know how proud we are of ALL our students!

As you look at your child's academic progress, make sure you celebrate them! But know our work is not finished after all the disruptions to learning that COVID-19 brought with it. Our staff is already preparing and will be working this summer before your students come back to ensure we are hitting the ground running to continue to make up the time we lost due to closures and quarantine over the past 16 months.

How can you help? Love on those kids this summer. Let them play and be kids. And if you can squeeze in some quiet time, take a look at our resources for Summer Enrichment that students can access.

We hope you have a SAFE & FUN Summer! See you all soon!

NISD Summer Enrichment Programs

Northwest ISD offers a variety of summer opportunities so students can stay engaged and keep learning while school is out.

Research shows that as much as two months of math and reading skills can be lost during summer break. But it only takes a couple of hours a week of learning for students to avoid the summer slide. We encourage students to continue to read books and take advantage of the break to explore their interests and learn something new!

Visit www.nisdtx.org/summer for a list of opportunities available this summer for elementary and secondary students, including creative problem-solving camps, athletic camps, fine arts camps, summer reading and more.

Plus, you can take your kids on a virtual vacation through the Learning That Takes You Places site. Students get to virtually explore a variety of cultures and locations around the world by reading, discussing, writing, reflecting and extending their learning, all while incorporating aspects of STEM, CTE, athletics and fine arts.

Northwest ISD COVID Protocols Expire June 4

The Northwest ISD 2020-2021 COVID Protocols will expire on June 4, 2021.

The one exception is that NISD will continue close contact tracing (Tier 3 notifications), as required by local health departments. This will be similar to how we have communicated other communicable diseases and community health notifications (pink eye, chicken pox, head lice, etc.) in the past.

We also encourage individuals to continue to follow best practices in terms of personal hygiene, hand washing, and staying home when ill. In addition, we will continue cleaning and disinfecting our facilities in a manner that’s designed to keep our students, staff, and visitors as safe and healthy as possible.

It’s Time to Register Your Student for the 2021-2022 School Year!

We can’t wait to welcome your family back!

With just six weeks left in the school year, the countdown to summer is on! But before you retire your child's backpack and break out the pool toys, we're asking you to take 15 minutes to register your child for the 2021-2022 school year.

Registering your child — and providing annual proof of residency — as early as possible is one way that you can help your campus and the district prepare for the next school year.

Most information for returning students will already appear filled out based on existing records.

To register your returning student:

  1. Log into the Home Access Center (HAC) and select the student you wish to register near the top right corner.

  2. Select the Registration icon toward the top of the page and click the "Update Enrollment" tab.

  3. Click on the word START to access your child's 2021-2022 enrollment form.

Registration is mobile-friendly and does not have to be completed on a computer.

Use your smartphone to snap a photo of a recent (within 30 days) utility bill, lease, or closing papers if you just purchased your home.

You can upload this proof of residency during registration.

Annual proof of residency documentation is required for every student in Northwest ISD.
