The Siegrist Star
February 20, 2023
What a week… We hope you have had the opportunity to stay safe and warm these past few days. On Monday, February 13th, The K2Y Crew (one of our Innovation Teams) got to take a short trip/tour of the City Union Mission community assistance building. During this visit they delivered the winter clothing collected during the Help Build Our Snowman drive held at Siegrist. This was a way for students to see first-hand where the clothing donations were going and see/hear how the donations will be used to help the homeless and those in need of assistance. Afterwards, students shared their thoughts about the experience: “I think it was nice to give clothing to people and kids; I learned that they have a store that is free and homeless people can shop here; they help our community; I learned that a whole bunch of families come here for help; How lucky we are here to have all the stuff we have when some people don’t have food to eat.” We want to say thank you to all that contributed to building our snowman and allowed our K2Y Crew to provide the City Union Mission these donations for others in need in our KC community.
As a friendly reminder we will be out of school on Monday for Presidents Day. We hope you have an opportunity to connect as a family over this extended weekend, and we will see everyone on Tuesday!
All the best,
Mrs. Johna-Kaye Sutton

PCR3 State Assessment Window Announced!
State assessments, for students in grade 3-5 at Siegrist Elementary, will occur between April 24-May 19, which is our announced PCR3 district assessment window. If you are planning any family vacations, trips, etc and have a student in grades 3-5th, if you could try your best to avoid your child(ren) from being absent during this time (April 24-May 19th) it would be very much appreciated.
