Note from Mrs. Bland
Hello Paddock Families,
I wanted to wish everyone a relaxing Thanksgiving break. I hope that you are able to spend this time with family and enjoy the break. On Thanksgiving I always reflect on the things that I am thankful for. Being a part of the Paddock family for the last 6 years tops my list. I want to thank everyone for their continued support of the school, teachers and students. We are all in this journey of educating our children together and I am thankful to be part of this community.
Warm regards,
Dr. Bland
Adaptive Pause Extended
In light of the stay at home advisory, District 15 will implement an Adaptive Pause District-wide beginning Wednesday, November 18. According to the CCDPH, the Pause will last at least 30 days. District 15 will not resume in-person instruction until Winter Break concludes. We will reevaluate conditions during the break period and will inform everyone if we will be resuming school on Tuesday, January 5 as scheduled, or if the Adaptive Pause will need to be extended.
During the Adaptive Pause, students will all learn remotely, as we did to start the 2020-21 school year. Materials will be sent home with students on Monday and/or Tuesday to prepare for remote learning. Most staff will also be working from home during the Adaptive Pause period unless they choose to teach or work from their classroom or office spaces. More information will be provided to staff this week.
I know this decision will come with mixed feedback from our parents, staff and the larger community, with some in support of the plan and others against it. I certainly understand the challenges that working parents will face who rely on our schools for childcare and the overall stressors of fully remote learning. Navigating educational plans during the ups and downs of this pandemic has come with no “right” answers or perfect solutions. In the end, I have to make decisions based upon the health and safety of everyone in our buildings, both students and adults.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Thanksgiving meal boxes & meal delivery locations
The week of Thanksgiving, the District will only have one meal pick up date- Tuesday, November 24. Parents can pick up one box of meals for the entire week on this date, including six breakfasts and six lunches for each child. To help us plan ahead in packing the meal boxes, please fill out this survey to indicate if you’d like a meal box. The menu is available to view online/(Spanish). As a reminder, these meals are available to all District 15 students at no cost. Please contact Kristin Voigts at voigtsk@ccsd15.net with any questions you may have.
Starting the week of November 30, meal delivery locations and times will revert back to what they were during the fall distance learning period. To view the locations and times, please view our website.
Picture Re-take Day
Due to the adaptive pause we are rescheduling picture re-take day to January 22nd. Here is the sign up link for our virtual families. We kept families in the same time slots but families can cancel or change as needed.

Holiday Gift Shop Program
This exciting program makes it possible for children to experience the joy of choosing their own special holiday gifts for family and friends. The program also provides a real-life lesson in math, budgeting, and the use of money.
This year, our holiday shop is virtual, and all buying is online at our shop's kid friendly website.
https://5867000.holidaytreasures.com
The gifts are moderately priced, with most under $5 and a few special items between $5 and $12. Children can easily click on a gift item and move to a shopping cart. Once filled, parents may provide a credit card for secure payment online. Or parents can fund a "student wallet" ahead of shopping and create a student account or a household account for multiple children.
Even though you may need to assist your child, we encourage you to let your child make the
decisions. Most of all, they want to surprise those they love with a special gift they select in 'secret' from the holiday shop.
This is a fun program offered by our school Parent Association, and some of the proceeds will benefit our school directly. Thank you, be safe and happy holidays! If you have any questions please contact Natalie Sayre via email (sayre.natalie@gmail.com) or text (847-840-4697).

Tech Issues During Virtual Learning
When encountering a tech issue regarding the district Chromebook at home that can not be resolved, please let your child's teacher know. Here are the options we have to resolve your technology issue.
- The teacher will attempt to help you resolve the issue
- The teacher will let you know if you should complete this form for additional assistance
- We will look into the severity of the issue and determine if a new device or components will be needed. If this is the case, the office will let you know when to come to school to pick-up the new device and return the old device.
At home connectivity results in many of the technology issues we have encountered in the past. This can range from the freezing of screens during a video conference to the inability to join a conference. Please review your at homes connectivity as well as the number of computers that are on your home Wi-Fi at one given time.
Streaming of any kind used the a large amount of bandwidth. More that many other applications opened on your computer. Making sure that there are no other applications open or internet tabs that have video on them open during the school day will help in the speed of the device.
