A Thank You from United Way and Christmas Cheer

On behalf of United Way of Onslow County, I would like to extend our gratitude to the students and faculty who volunteered at Christmas Cheer 2015. Because of the assistance of volunteers such as your students and faculty, the program was an overwhelming success.

NHS Announcements

Reminder: Every Tuesday is College shirt day. Remember to wear a college shirt on Tuesdays. The 2nd period with the most participants will win a prize.

Last chance!! This will be the last week we are selling Monarch Maniac t-shirts. If you have already ordered one or still want one ALL money is due to Ms. Ondrus in room 609 by this Friday.

Seniors who have NOT had their picture taken for the yearbook but would like to be included, need to see Mrs. Yeager in room 902 as soon as possible.

The Key Club needs donations of used toys and books for all ages of kids birth-18 for teacher cadet.

The Key Club would like to thank everyone for their support with the winter angel tree! We donated hats gloves and coats for 20 women and children to Onslow women's shelter. It was pretty amazing. The response from our community was fantastic.

Graduation Projects nearing completion

Senior graduation projects should be nearing completion at this time. Final opportunities for practice presentations are scheduled for THIS WEEK. Seniors, please remember that anyone behind on deadlines may not participate in any sport or other extracurricular activity, until deadlines are met.

THE PROJECT GRADUATION $5,000 REVERSE RAFFLE WILL BE HELD ON FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2016 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Jacksonville Country Club. Three hundred tickets will be sold for $50.00 each. This ticket will get two people into the party where we will be having heavy hors’doeuvres will be served. The first ticket drawn will win $250. Every 50th ticket drawn will win $100.00. The last ticket drawn will win $5,000 [or the last five names may choose to split]. This is a fun, exciting event and it really helps us plan a nice Project Graduation party for our Seniors!

Tickets go on Sale on November 1st and can be purchased in the Northside High School Testing Office. If you have any questions please contact Nell Altman-Boyce.

A SPECIAL MESSAGE TO SENIOR PARENTS: Please participate in this event and help sell tickets. You may pick up tickets from the testing office to sell any time on Mondays and Wednesdays through Fridays until 3:00 p.m.

Monarch Athletic News


The girls basketball team won the East Coast Christmas Tournament held at Northside over break. After beating C.B. Aycock, Swansboro, and finally Rosewood in the high school the Lady Monarchs brought home the title. Kayla Stephens was named the tournament's MVP and Timia Grant earned All-Tournament honors. The girls are now 10-1 and ranked 4th in the state. Next up is Havelock at home on Tuesday
