Ms. C.'s First Grade Classroom

October 9 - October 13

This Week:

In Reading, students reviewed the short /a/ sound. Students learned the difference between a Fable and and Fairytale. They read the texts, "Jack and the Wolf" and the "Three Little Pigs". Students practiced identifying complete sentences and creating sentences of their own. In writing, students completed their personal narratives. I am so proud of the students' writing.

In Math, students learned how to count on a number line and practiced adding and subtracting using the number line. We are starting to practice facts to 10 and using ten frames to solve addition and subtraction number stories.

In Science, students started the scientist unit with pumpkin investigations. They were able to identify pumpkin parts and the pumpkin lifecycle. Next week, we will be cutting open a pumpkin and seeing each part.

Please note: All students should bring an old shirt to school on Monday for our pumpkin exploration. They will place the shirt over their school uniform.
