REGISTRATION FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR IS NOW OPEN!
Registration opened at noon on Monday, December 5th for the 2023-24 school year on our website here. Registration is for any new families to Franklin or new students looking to register for next year in 4K, 5K or up through 12th grade. If you have any friends or family in Franklin that plan to have children attend Franklin Public Schools next year, please pass this information along to them! Registering early helps to get all information in our system for planned communications.
Please note that any student that is already attending Franklin Public Schools DOES NOT need to register for next school year as a new student. This includes students already in Preschool Speech, Early Childhood, and 4K. All parents/guardians will be required to review your student’s data during our summer Back-To-School Online Check-In process. Any family who knows a student will not be returning for the next school year should notify your school’s main office staff.
FPS 2023-24 OPEN ENROLLMENT INFORMATION
PTA MEETINGS
The next PTA meeting will be held TONIGHT, Monday, March 13th at 6:30pm in the Southwood Glen library. First grade teachers will join us! Childcare is provided.
NEWSLETTER
- The February/March edition of the PTA Newsletter includes an article about Southwood Glen’s staff, information from the National PTA, and details about our officer elections.
EVENTS
Students had a great time at the Knowledge-a-Thon and over $7,000 was pledged and earned! Pledges can now be turned in via A to Z Connect or via a check (to Southwood Glen PTA) sent in to school - we have collected about $2200 of the total so far. Please remember that pledges are due by this Friday, March 17th.
The 2023 Science celebration is coming! Mark your calendars and get ready to celebrate science with your students. Here is the list of the events for the week:
Monday, March 13th - March Madness begins this week, and believe it or not - there’s a science behind every shot. We’ll show you how to experiment with your shot.
Tuesday, March 14th - National Pi Day! We’ll share ways for students to learn about 3.14 - the fun is endless!
Wednesday, March 15th - March is Women’s history month and we’ll learn more about women in science history.
Thursday, March 16th - Dress Like A Scientist - you don’t need a lab coat to dress as a scientist; carry a cuddly dolphin to be a marine biologist, wear a boiler suit to be a forensic scientist or dress in khaki to be an archaeologist.
Friday, March 17th - From "Leprechaun Snot" to a "Shamrock Launcher," these clever STEM activities fit right in for St. Patrick's Day. Additionally, we are hosting a Science Night at Southwood Glen from 6:00-8:00pm. Students will get to see science in action by some local scientists and clubs from the high school! RSVP HERE if you plan to attend. We would also like a few volunteers to help ensure this night runs smoothly. Check out A to Z Connect HERE to volunteer.
Come join Southwood Glen families on Tuesday, March 21st from 6:00-8:00 pm as we enjoy a sit-down dinner and game night together in the school gym. Prizes are ready for you to win!
Cousins Subs will be providing meals for purchase. If you missed the pre-order window, but would still like a meal (includes a sub, bag of chips, and a beverage), please email michelle.l.carini@gmail.com.
Volunteer opportunities are also available in A to Z Connect!
OFFICER ELECTIONS
- Officer elections will take place at the May PTA Meeting on Monday, May 8th. Officers have a front-row seat for determining the vision for our work and setting fundraising goals and priorities. They help to coordinate the work that we do and share leadership with our many event chairs and amazing volunteers. Officers typically serve a 2-year term
Parents can share interest in an officer position or they may be nominated by someone else. Interest and nominations must be shared by the April PTA meeting (4/17). These will be shared with the school community at the meeting and in the meeting minutes. Elections will be held in May (per our bylaws).
Open positions include all board roles: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. We encourage you to reach out to any current board member for information about their position!
