We invite all Monomoy families to join us next Wednesday as we welcome you to our wonderful school. This is a terrific opportunity for parents/guardians to meet your child's teachers, support staff, counseling team, nurse and administrators.
We will start promptly in the Auditorium at 6:30 pm. Please arrive early if possible to receive your child's schedule outside the gym on main street between 6:15-6:30. Our guidance team will be greeting you, along with some of our outstanding students.
After opening remarks by Principal Burkhead, parents/guardians will follow their child's schedule - remember HS? We even give you 5 minutes passing time!

Ms. Flint
I'd like to send a shark shout out to Caroline Freitas and the culinary students who made delicious cookies for our bake sale at the movie night.
Ms. Casey
I'd like to send a Shark Shout Out to Mr. Sean Burke. Mr. Burke regularly seeks out teachers to touch base regarding students, whether it's in passing during Jawsome or just taking the time to come down to our classrooms. Those one-on-one conversations are sometimes tough to coordinate due to the very busy schedules of teachers and guidance counselors, so it is appreciated more than you know!!
Ms. Flint

Athletics Update: by Connor Santoni
Last Friday the football team lost 48-8 against The Saint John Paul Lions. The Lions Went up 20-0 in the first quarter and the Sharks never really got back into rhythm. The Sharks had one touchdown scored by Eli Nickerson. But a very good showing by the Monomoy Fan section, very energetic even when there team was down. Field hockey played Sandwich and lost 4-1. The game was tied up at 1 goal a piece after Caroline Labelle scored off a penalty corner. Two missed penalty strokes by Sandwich kept the game tied up late. The Knights scored late deflating the sharks and they went on to score two more times. Due to the bad weather a lot of the games have been cancelled and rescheduled to later dates. If you like discounts our Monomoy Sharks Athletes are selling shark cards, find an athlete and get yours today. If you like golf gather up a team of 4 and come down to Cranberry Valley Monday October 18 for a Golf Tournament hosted by the Monomoy All Sports Booster Club, all proceeds will go to the Monomoy Sharks athletic teams. The Sharks Shaking hands after a rough loss the to The Saint John Paul Lions.

2nd Annual MRHS Summer Reading Book Club
Summer Reading Book Discussions
Last Friday, we held our 2nd Annual Summer Reading Book Discussion Groups. This year’s event included 46 book groups, eight of which were facilitated by community members from Chatham and Harwich. We wish to thank Suzanne Martell, Carey Sims, Jennifer Pickett, Ann Carpenter, and Emily Milan from Brooks Free Library; Tammy DePasquale from Eldredge Public Library; and Theresa Malone and Michele Green from Monomoy Community Services. Superintendent Scott Carpenter and Dr. Carla Blanchard, Monomoy Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, also supported this initiative by leading discussion groups as well.
Our students had more voice in the selection of this year’s titles. The enthusiasm and engagement in the book groups showed that this was a fantastic improvement. Visit the MRHS Summer Reading Page to view the book group titles and a photo gallery of our discussion leader book posters.
Thank you to Ms. Wheaton & Ms. Barnes for all your hard work on making this happen- reading is fun at MRHS!!
