Storing and Caring for Fruits and Vegetables
Different Types of Produce and Caring for it
Fresh Produce - Wash when you go to use the produce since not enough dirt gets washed off when it's cleaned by a company.
Canned Produce - Most are ready to eat with little preparation other than heating. Some soups can be mixed with water or milk.
Frozen Produce - Thaw when you need to use it. Some must be cooked without thawing. Make sure to check the package for special directions about cooking (like "Do not heat in a toaster oven.")
Legumes and Dry Beans - Many dry foods need to be reconstituted (adding back the liquid that was removed in processing).
