HUSKY HAPPENINGS

OCTOBER 2022

Message from Mrs. Boone

Hello Metzler Family!

It was great to see so many families at our Fall Open House! We hope you are enjoying the changing of seasons and the cool mornings fall has brought with it. Thank you for taking time to come out and learn about the amazing things happening to support your students' learning! We want to help our families stay connected, please click on THIS link to access the Klein Family Curriculum Guides. These guides provide an overview of the learning/instruction that students receive each quarter. They include questions you can ask your child and provide ways you can support your child's learning at home. Please use this tool as we partner to ensure your child success.

Quarter 1 report cards will be posted to Skyward Family Access on October 21st. For information on how to access Skyward Family Access click HERE.

At the beginning of the year our K-5 students took the MAP Growth Assessment. This online test is used to measure what your student knows and how they are growing academically in Reading and Mathematics. The MAP Growth Family Report can be found in your child's Skyward Portfolio. For more info, visit the Klein MAP Assessments Site by clicking HERE.

September 15th-October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month. We love celebrating the rich culture that is Metzler. Our teachers and students have enjoyed sharing and learning facts about Hispanic Heritage and traditions.

We have some AWESOME events planned for October, so be sure to save the date(s).

Respectfully,

Danis Boone, Principal

TRANSPORTATION CHANGES

Thank you for following our dismissal procedures. Please know that decisions are based on student safety and available staff.

One of our main goals is to get your students back to you at the end of the day safely.

We are a large campus and work to get just under 900 students dismissed safely and quickly. The end of the day can get hectic, so we ask for your help, cooperation and understanding.

If your child will be going home a different way, please send a note for the teacher to school with your child the day the dismissal will be different. If it is an emergency let the FRONT OFFICE and your child's TEACHER know right away. Telling the teacher is wonderful, but sometimes they can't check voicemail or email until it is after school-so your best option is always to call the school front office. (832-484-7900)

We ask that you have the call made by 2:15pm. If messages are not cleared or given in time, please know the teachers are trained to send kids home their regular way unless cleared by administration. We CANNOT take a child's word for it when it comes to leaving school safely.
