A Special End-of-Year "Thank You" From the PTA
To all our wonderful North Beach families!!!
We did it!!! We wish we could celebrate with you in person to close out our year, but instead... let us take a tiny bit of newsletter space to share our appreciation to each of you, and to each of our amazing staff members for helping us make it through all the ups and downs of 2020-2021.
Here are some highlights of the year:
- Raised more than $100,000 to support essential staffing (counselor and tutors) and PTA events for next year
- Donated more than 1500 lbs of food to the Ballard Food Bank
- Funded technology upgrades for classrooms, new IXL math curriculum and teacher trainings for return-to-school
- Ensured each child received a school yearbook
- Hosted COVID-friendly events for students like the parade/food drives and the Herbie's Hearts events
Thank you for your support this year and for encouraging your students to persevere!

PTA Awards for Outstanding Advocate, Outstanding Educator and Golden Acorn for Outstanding Volunteer
The North Beach Elementary PTA is very pleased to announce the winners of our annual PTA awards for Outstanding Advocate, Outstanding Educator and the Golden Acorn for Outstanding Volunteer. Each award is given with great heart and great pride to members of our community who go above and beyond in their dedication to North Beach and its students. Congratulations to all our award recipients. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to North Beach Elementary!
Outstanding Advocate
Congratulations Kristine McLane
"Kristine is a fighter for our students. I've never met anyone more passionate about making sure students’ needs are being met, especially those furthest from educational justice. You would think that these kids are her own actual children. Whether it's fighting for transportation for a student who can't get here, or getting materials to students who aren't in the building, Kristine is continuously going to bat for these kids."
"Kristine has been an amazing leader for students and staff this year. She is consistently positive, encouraging, caring for the staff so they can, in turn, care for the students. She consistently keeps the needs of the students in the forefront of all considerations and decisions, being creative and flexible to meet their academic, safety and social/emotional needs"
Special Recognition Alysa Reid
The PTA would also like to recognize Alysa Reid for her constant service to our students' mental and physical health during this year and the entirety of the ongoing pandemic. Ms. Reid is a champion for our students and ensured that no families in need were left behind throughout the holiday season and beyond during this isolated year.
Outstanding Educator
Congratulations to The Special Education Team
Including the Developmental Preschool, Focus, Access, and Resource teams.
“This year the pandemic restrictions and remote learning posed unique challenges for the entire staff, but in particular I would like to recognize the challenges and hurdles that our devoted team of educators that serve our Special Education students have faced. Their creativity, positivity, innovation and persistence in the face of learning in a remote environment and resuming in-person learning under pandemic restrictions serves as an inspiration to our whole community."
“They pull my kiddo through every time.”
“They’ve made a huge difference in my child's life.”
Special Recognition: all North Beach Educators
In this unprecedented school year and beyond, the community would like to recognize the outstanding contributions of our North Beach Educators and Staff for their dedication and compassion to all students during the Covid-19 pandemic. A special plaque has been commissioned for the break room as a permanent symbol of our gratitude.
Golden Acorn (Outstanding Volunteer)
Congratulations to Rhonda Estigoy and Debbie Wayne
Rhonda Estigoy
“Yearbook! Rhonda made sure we still had a yearbook to commemorate and remember this very unusual year.”
“Rhonda organized and managed all parent volunteers in order to make a yearbook for all students and the school - all VIRTUALLY! Her time and pleasant communication with this task is way above and beyond. She made something for all students with these efforts.”
Debbie Wayne
“Debbie kept the 5th grade crew involved in school during remoteness. This is a hard thing to do during a normal year. I know she does tons more. She’s a rockstar!”
“Debbie advocates and creates activities for the 5th grade students. She is a shining hope this year!”
