Shout Outs

Thank you to everyone who helped with the volleyball games, pie eating and fun that was had on Friday, Nov. 20th. The students enjoyed it very much as did the faculty and staff.

Special Shout Outs to:

Harriett Diaz for working so hard in our Special Education Department so that things continue to run smoothly.

See and Be Seen

Teachers, please stand at your doorway to greet your students upon entering your classroom and to dismiss them. The more visible you are in the hallways, the less likely students are to misbehave on their way to their next class. It is also important to set the tone for each class by greeting each student individually, by name and with a handshake or a fist bump. How about working with your students to develop your own unique class handshake?

TPO and More

It is imperative that each teacher have a Three Part Objective (TPO) posted on the board every day and that it be accurate with that day's lesson. In addition, please post the agenda and any materials that will be needed. The TPO covers the main focus of the day's lesson and the agenda will let the students know other activities that may be taking place. A materials list will help lesson movement in the room that may distract from the day's work as students can gather their materials at the start of the class period.

Please make this a habit as your administrative team will be looking for these when they make visits to your classroom.

PDAS Appraisals

Please schedule your PDAS appraisal soon. Please check the school website for a link for each administrator so that you can reserve a day and time. An email with instructions on where to find the link will be sent out very soon.

Please find some time on Monday morning to review our PBIS procedures for hallways and common areas, and to review your classroom procedures and rules. Anytime we have an extended break from school we must review these important things.

Restroom Restrictions

Prior to our Thanksgiving break, we had several instances of vandalism in the boys' restrooms in both the 7th and 8th grade wings. Please remind your students that, until further notice, 7th grade boys may use only the restroom in the 200 wing and 8th grade boys may use only the restroom in the 300 wing. Also, be sure to have all students sign out and sign in each time they leave the classroom. They are to include the time they left, the time they returned, and their destination (restroom, nurse, office).

Energy Conservation - Important News!

Please note that many of our windows have been, or soon will be, tinted. It is important that you do not tape anything to the windows as removing the item and the tape will damage the tinting. Thank you for your cooperation.

Colder Weather is On Its Way

Many of our students do not have coats for the colder weather that will soon be upon us. If you would like to donate a new coat, please drop it by the office this week. Anyone who donates a coat may wear jeans on Thursdays during the month of December. (Let's dress up our jeans with a nice shirt, blouse, or sweater, or even a nice holiday shirt/sweater on Thursdays).

Bonnie will keep a list of people who donated so please, let's respect the requirements for the additional jeans day, and thank you for your generosity.
