News from Mrs. Clay

4th Grade, Central Elementary

News from Room 205

Wow!!! What an exciting an fun two weeks we have had in class. The transition has gone as smoothly as can be and I have loved getting to know your children. They have been very patient with me as I have been learning the routines of the class.

The students did a great job presenting their science fair projects. They enjoyed showing their hard work to the family, students, and staff of Central. I am very proud of how well they explained the projects to the other students.

What's Next?

Next week the students will be reading about the Navajo Code Talkers and we will be discussing sequence and important ideas. The students will also be learning more about pronouns, antecedents and persuasive writing.

In Math, we are working on writing expressions using variables and order of operations. Students will also learn how to evaluate expressions.

In Science, we are continuing our study of electricity and in Social Studies we will wrap up our study on exploration and settlement and begin learning about the American Revolution.

December 16th - 4th Grade Christmas Around the World - Students will be moving from class to class, learning about the different ways Christmas is celebrated around the world. I would like to have a couple of parent volunteers from 8:50-10:30. Please e-mail me if you are able to help.

December 17th - Grinch Day - This will be a fun-filled morning for our students as they move from station to station doing Grinch related activities. As my Christmas gift to the students, I will be providing pizza for lunch and eating in the classroom. If your child does not want to have pizza they are welcome to bring in their own lunch. I would like to have a couple of volunteers during our Grinch activities and to help with lunch. Also, if you would like to send in chips, fruit, and pop or water for the students to have with lunch it would be appreciated. We will be watching The Grinch during this time.

December 17th - Last day for students and we will return on January 4th
