The city under ash

The early days

Pompeii was once only for the rich, many famous people of Rome had country houses here and came here for vacation. But it wasn't always like this, it was first settled by the Osci but was then taken by the Etruscans. But then was conquered by the Greek colony's cumae and Syracuse. Then finally being Siege by the Sulla which Rome finally got control over. All was good in the city of Pompeii until 62 AD when a earthquake struck and destroyed many of the buildings. It took many years to rebuild but that was all but useless because in 79 AD Mt. Vesuvius erupted and took the lives of 2,000 of the 20,000 people that lived there
