A Message From Our Superintendent

Dear GPISD Parents/Guardians and Families,

We are now well into 2021, and I hope this year has been kind to each of you so far. It is my hope and constant prayer that as more and more people receive the COVID vaccine, the pandemic begins to fade and not pose such a tremendous risk to us all. As a society and a school system, we have learned a lot about so many things--from how to function virtually, to how to really care for and look out for one another in the most challenging of times.

At this time, we are planning for in-person STAAR testing to take place at all of our campuses this Spring. We will keep you updated with dates, times and all relevant information.

As always, I am grateful for the continued support you all have demonstrated to Galena Park I.S.D., and I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Please remember to take care of yourselves and each other.

Be safe,

John C. Moore, Jr., Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools

Superintendent's Student Advisory Board Podcast

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Board (SAB) was established to provide an avenue

of dialogue between high school students who are leaders on their campuses

with District leaders.

Every year, Student Advisory Board members participate in a community service project, but due to the pandemic and social distancing guidelines, the students decided to create a podcast to provide important conversations about how to cope during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

For the duration of the 2020-2021 school year, the SAB will be participating in monthly podcasts to discuss mental health and how to cope with the difficulties we have all faced during this pandemic. The third episode of the podcast will air in March, the students will have a conversation about bullying and our district’s ‘No Place for Hate’ initiative

Thank you, SAB, for bringing awareness to the importance of mental health.
